New Delhi: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will close the Detailed Application Form (DAF) submission window for the Civil Services (Main) Examination 2026 today, June 28. Candidates who qualified in the Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2026 and have not yet completed the DAF submission process must do so through the official UPSC portal before the deadline.
The DAF is a mandatory requirement for all candidates aspiring to appear in the UPSC Civil Services Main Examination. Failure to submit the form within the stipulated time will make candidates ineligible to appear for the Mains examination.
DAF Submission Began on June 19
The UPSC opened the Detailed Application Form (DAF) submission window on June 19, 2026. Through the portal, candidates are required to verify or update their personal, educational, and category details, indicate their cadre preferences, provide information related to scribes and assistive devices (where applicable), and complete the examination fee payment.
The Commission has advised candidates to carefully review all information before final submission.
What Candidates Need to Fill in the DAF
As part of the Detailed Application Form, candidates are required to:
- Verify or update personal and educational details.
- Update category and reservation details, if applicable.
- Fill in cadre preferences.
- Provide scribe-related information, if required.
- Request assistive devices or large-font question papers for eligible candidates.
- Pay the examination fee, wherever applicable.
- Review the complete application before final submission.
UPSC has clarified that E-Admit Cards for the Civil Services Main Examination 2026 will be issued only after the successful submission of the DAF.
Examination Fee Details
The examination fee for the UPSC Civil Services Main Examination is Rs 200.
However, the following categories are exempted from paying the fee:
- Female candidates
- Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates
- Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates
- Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD)
All other candidates are required to pay the prescribed fee while submitting the DAF.
How to Submit UPSC CSE Mains DAF 2026
Candidates can complete the application process by following these steps:
- Visit the official UPSC portal.
- Log in using your registration credentials.
- Verify personal and educational details.
- Update category and reservation information, if applicable.
- Fill in cadre preferences.
- Enter scribe or assistive device details, if required.
- Pay the examination fee of Rs 200 (if applicable).
- Carefully review all entered information.
- Submit the Detailed Application Form.
- Download and save the confirmation page for future reference.
Candidates are advised to retain a copy of the confirmation page until the recruitment process is completed.
UPSC Civil Services Main Examination 2026
The UPSC Civil Services Main Examination is the second stage of the Civil Services Examination and consists of nine papers. Candidates who qualify in the written examination will be called for the Personality Test (Interview), which carries 275 marks.
The UPSC Civil Services Main Examination 2026 is scheduled to commence from August 21, 2026.
With the DAF submission window closing today, eligible candidates are advised to complete the process without delay to avoid last-minute technical issues and ensure their candidature for the Civil Services Main Examination.
