The Department of Personnel and Training of Government of India has allocated services to the candidates who qualified in the Civil Services Examination 2022 conducted by the Union Public Service Commission.

Out of the total of 933 candidates who qualified, only 784 have been allocated the services as of now, as per the list released by the P&T department. The service allocation list can be seen here below.

WHO GOT WHAT

Predictably, as per the last few years’ trends, this year too, as many as 17 out of the top 20 were allocated IAS. While Mayur Hazarika, AIR 5 in UPSC CSE-2022, opted for Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and became no 1 in the IFS list. Gahana Navya James (AIR 6) and Vidushi Singh (AIR 13) are two more candidates from top 20 who chose IFS.

As expected, Ishita Kishore, AIR 1, opted for IAS. The top 3 in UPSC CSE 2022 chose IAS. While Ayan Jain, AIR 87 in CSE – 2022, got IPS and became the first one in IPS list. He is of general category.

Muskan Khurana, AIR 97, got IRS and became first in the list. She is from general category.

As per the list, 174 have been allocated IAS, 197 IPS, 163 IRS, 35 IFS, 26 IA&AS, 10 ICAS, 11 IDES, 6 IPOS, 5 DANIPS, 22 IDAS, 2 ITS, 4 DANICS, 2 PONDICS and 7 ICLS.

CATEGORY WISE SERVICE ALLOCATION

In the general category, up to AIR 82 have been allocated IAS, while in OBC category, Rank 403 was allocated IAS. In SC category, up to rank 577 and in ST category, up to rank 507 got IAS.

In physical handicapped (PH) category, AIR 916 Neha Kumari (general) got IAS. Another candidate in PH category is Rank 915 Lourembam Nelson Mangangcha (OBC).

Once the most sought after service, Indian Foreign Service (IFS), has made a comeback as 3 in top 20 opted for IFS this year, while last year, no one in the top 20 opted for it.

AIR 924 Rajat, who falls in SC category, was allocated IFS in HI (Hearing Impaired) category. In the ST category, ranks up to 765 got IPS. In the SC category, up to 814 got IPS.

HOW SERVICES ARE ALLOCATED

While allocating services to any category, many factors are taken into consideration. They are:

  1. The rank of the candidate in the CSE.
  2. Candidate’s order of preference for service.
  3. Candidate’s category like General, OBC, SC, ST, etc.
  4. Availability of vacancy in the candidate’s category.
  5. Findings of the Medical Board/Appellate Board with respect to the candidate.
  6. If a candidate does not give preferences for all the civil services, and he/she doesn’t get the services for which he/she had given preferences, then he/she will be considered for the remaining services where there are vacancies after the allocation to all the candidates, who could be allocated to cadres according to their preferences.
