The Gautam Budh Nagar district consumer forum has issued an arrest warrant against Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) CEO Mayur Maheshwari for failing to comply with a 2003 order to restore an industrial plot in Surajpur. The case dates back to 1989 when a 800-square-metre plot was allotted to Mahendra Kumar H Advani but later canceled in 1998.
Advani challenged the cancellation in 2001, and in 2003, the consumer forum ruled in his favor. Successive courts, including the State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (2019) and the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (2023), upheld the order, directing UPSIDA to restore the plot. However, UPSIDA failed to comply.
Following a petition by Advani’s wife, Pushpa, the forum issued a bailable warrant of ₹50,000 against Maheshwari. He can secure bail but must appear in court on February 28. The forum has also informed the Kanpur police commissioner. Maheshwari stated they are awaiting the signed order and will take necessary action.
