Dehradun: Major infrastructure projects related to urban development, drinking water supply, and public works have received approval during a high-level Expenditure Finance Committee meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Anand Vardhan.
The meeting focused on improving urban facilities and strengthening essential civic infrastructure across key towns in Uttarakhand.
Approval for Multistorey Parking Projects
The Chief Secretary approved the construction of multistorey parking facilities in:
- Neelkanth Mahadev (Pauri Garhwal)
- Ramnagar (Nainital)
These projects aim to address increasing traffic congestion and parking issues in tourist-heavy areas.
- Neelkanth Mahadev Parking Project Cost: ₹51.83 crore
- Ramnagar Parking Project Cost: ₹38.57 crore
Officials have been directed to strictly follow parking construction guidelines and ensure efficient design standards.

Focus on Technical Precision and Safety
Special emphasis has been placed on technical aspects of the projects, including:
- Proper entry and exit design
- Adequate turning radius for vehicles
- Structural safety and usability
For the Neelkanth Mahadev project, a geotechnical survey of the land has been made mandatory to ensure stability and safety.
Additionally, the Chief Secretary instructed that modern facade lighting be incorporated to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the buildings.
Drinking Water and Sewer Projects Approved
The committee also approved four key proposals from the Drinking Water Department, including three major water supply schemes:
- Pipalkoti Nagar Panchayat Drinking Water Project
- Tilwara Nagar Panchayat Drinking Water Scheme
- Ukhimath Nagar Panchayat Drinking Water Scheme
In addition, the sewer line project in Lalkuan Nagar Panchayat has also been sanctioned.
Boost to Urban Infrastructure
These approvals are expected to significantly improve:
- Urban mobility
- Drinking water availability
- Sanitation infrastructure
The decisions reflect the state government’s continued focus on sustainable urban development and public convenience.
