Srinagar/New Delhi: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has transferred IPS officer Vikas Gupta (2010: AGMUT) from Jammu and Kashmir to Goa with immediate effect.
According to an order issued by the Union Government, Gupta has been transferred to Goa until further orders with the approval of the competent authority.
The order was issued by Rakesh Kumar Singh, Under Secretary to the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, from Kartavya Bhavan, New Delhi.
2010-Batch AGMUT IPS Officer
Vikas Gupta is a 2010-batch IPS officer of the AGMUT cadre. He has served in Jammu and Kashmir in various senior police and administrative assignments.
His latest transfer moves him from the J&K segment of the AGMUT cadre to Goa, another constituent of the AGMUT cadre.
The order does not specify a fixed tenure for his new assignment, stating that the transfer will remain effective until further orders.
Transfer Takes Immediate Effect
The MHA order makes clear that Gupta’s transfer to Goa takes effect immediately.
The latest move is part of the Centre’s cadre management and deployment of AGMUT-cadre officers across its constituent regions, including Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi, Goa and other Union Territories.
The transfer comes through an order issued by the competent authority in the Ministry of Home Affairs and does not indicate any separate tenure period for Gupta’s posting in Goa.

Vikas Gupta is a senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer belonging to the 2010 batch of the AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram, and Union Territories) cadre. Originally from his home state of Jammu & Kashmir, he was officially inducted into the IPS on October 4, 2021, via promotion from the State Police Service (SPS).
