Kolkata: West Bengal Urban Development Minister Agnimitra Paul on Wednesday claimed that the state government has fulfilled 43% of its poll promises since coming to power in May.

Paul made the remarks while speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the CREDAI Kolkata Techcon 2026 event. She also expressed confidence that corporate investment and industrial activity would gain momentum in the state as the government continues to focus on development.

Government Has Fulfilled 43% of Poll Promises

Agnimitra Paul said the government has already delivered on a significant portion of the commitments made in its election manifesto.

According to the minister, 43% of the promises have been fulfilled since the government assumed office in May.

She did not provide details of the specific promises that have been completed.

Government Working on Ground for Development

Paul said the government is working at the ground level to accelerate development across West Bengal.

She expressed confidence that the state’s development efforts would help create a favourable environment for businesses and industries.

“The government is working on the ground for development, and we expect industries to come in a big way,” she said.

The minister’s remarks come amid efforts to attract greater industrial and corporate investment to the state.

West Bengal Eyes Higher Corporate Investment

Paul also expressed optimism that corporate investment in West Bengal would pick up pace.

The government expects increased industrial activity to contribute to economic growth, employment generation and development across the state.

The minister’s comments were made at the CREDAI Kolkata Techcon 2026, a platform bringing together stakeholders from the real estate and infrastructure sectors.

Separate Land and Industry Policies Proposed

State Industry Minister Tapas Roy had earlier indicated that the government was likely to introduce separate policies for land and industry to attract investments.

The proposed industry policy is also expected to include measures aimed at boosting exports from the state.

The proposed policy framework is intended to create a more conducive environment for businesses while supporting industrial expansion and export growth.

Focus on Industrial Growth and Investment

The government’s emphasis on development, industrial policies and investment promotion comes as West Bengal seeks to strengthen its position as an attractive destination for businesses.

With proposed measures covering land, industry and exports, the government is looking to encourage fresh investments and accelerate industrial activity across the state.
