The promoted officers, primarily from the 2011 batch of the IPS, have been entrusted with important responsibilities in Kolkata Police, district police units, intelligence wings, armed police formations, and specialized departments. The reshuffle is expected to enhance operational efficiency and strengthen law enforcement management across West Bengal.

The promotions also reflect the state’s focus on placing experienced officers in strategic roles dealing with traffic management, administration, intelligence gathering, planning, armed police operations, and district policing.

Surya Pratap Yadav Appointed Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Kolkata

Among the prominent appointments, Surya Pratap Yadav (IPS:2011), who was serving as Superintendent of Police, Birbhum, has been promoted and posted as Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Kolkata.

His appointment comes at a crucial time as Kolkata continues to witness increasing traffic volumes and urban mobility challenges requiring advanced traffic management strategies.

V.S.R. Ananthnag Gets Administrative Responsibility in Kolkata Police

V.S.R. Ananthnag (IPS:2011), who was serving as Deputy Commissioner, South Division, Kolkata Police, has been elevated and appointed as Joint Commissioner of Police (Administration), Kolkata.

The position plays a vital role in overseeing administrative coordination, personnel management, and operational support within Kolkata Police.

Joy Tudu Posted as DIG, Armed Police (EFR)

Senior IPS officer Joy Tudu (IPS:2011), previously serving as Senior Staff Officer in the Home Guard organization, has been promoted and appointed as DIG, Armed Police, Eastern Frontier Rifles (EFR).

The EFR remains one of the state’s key armed police formations responsible for maintaining internal security and supporting law and order operations.

Dyutiman Bhattacharya Takes Charge as DIG (Planning)

Dyutiman Bhattacharya (IPS:2011), who was serving as Deputy Commissioner, South Division, Barrackpore Police Commissionerate, has been elevated to the rank of DIG and posted as DIG (Planning).

The planning wing plays a critical role in modernizing police infrastructure, resource allocation, and future policing strategies.

Debarshi Dutta Posted to WBPHIDCL

Debarshi Dutta (IPS:2011), who was serving as Superintendent of Railway Police (SRP), Sealdah, has been promoted and posted as DIG, West Bengal Police Housing and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (WBPHIDCL).

The corporation is responsible for police infrastructure projects, housing facilities, and modernization initiatives across the state.

Prasanta Kumar Choudhury Named DIG, Jalpaiguri

Prasanta Kumar Choudhury (IPS:2011), formerly Deputy Commissioner, East Division, Kolkata Police, has been appointed as DIG, Jalpaiguri Range following his promotion.

The Jalpaiguri Range covers several strategically important districts in North Bengal and plays a crucial role in maintaining law and order in the region.

Ananda Roy Appointed Joint Commissioner of Police, Chandannagar

Ananda Roy (IPS:2011), who was serving as Commanding Officer of the 3rd Battalion of Eastern Frontier Rifles at Salua, has been elevated and posted as Joint Commissioner of Police, Chandannagar Police Commissionerate.

The posting places him in charge of key policing functions within one of the state’s important urban police commissionerates.

The reshuffle also includes promotions and significant postings for officers from the 2012 IPS batch.

Amarnath K. Posted as DIG, Intelligence Branch (North Bengal)

Amarnath K. (IPS:2012), who was serving as Superintendent of Police, Jalpaiguri, has been promoted and appointed as DIG, Intelligence Branch (North Bengal).

His role will involve intelligence collection, security assessments, and coordination of intelligence operations across the North Bengal region.

Vaibhav Tiwari Gets Kolkata Armed Police Assignment

Vaibhav Tiwari (IPS:2012), formerly Superintendent of Police, Purulia, has been appointed as Joint Commissioner of Police (Armed Police), Kolkata.

The assignment places him at the helm of a critical operational wing responsible for maintaining reserve police forces and responding to law and order situations.

Dinesh Kumar Posted to Special Task and Enforcement Wing

Dinesh Kumar (IPS:2012) has been assigned as Joint Commissioner of Police, Special Task and Enforcement (STE), Kolkata, a role expected to focus on specialized policing and enforcement operations.

Focus on Strengthening Leadership Across Police Units

The latest promotions and transfers indicate the West Bengal government’s effort to strengthen leadership across key policing sectors, including intelligence, traffic management, armed police, planning, infrastructure development, and district policing.
