Hyderabad: A woman IPS officer trainee undergoing training at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) in Hyderabad has filed a complaint against a fellow trainee officer, alleging sexual harassment, physical assault, wrongful confinement, criminal intimidation and blackmail over a period of several weeks. Based on her complaint, the Attapur Police have registered a case against the accused trainee officer, identified as Uday Krishna Reddy, and initiated an investigation.

The complainant, a 30-year-old IPS officer trainee from Karnataka, alleged that the incidents occurred at the National Police Academy in Shivarampally between late June and early July 2026. The complaint was reportedly received by the court on the night of July 18, 2026, following which legal proceedings were initiated.

Alleged Harassment Began in Late June

According to the complaint, the alleged harassment began on June 23, 2026, when the accused allegedly started sending sexually abusive messages to the woman through WhatsApp.

The complainant further alleged that the accused made derogatory remarks about her in Telugu in the presence of fellow trainees at the academy. She claimed he repeatedly attempted to humiliate her by making offensive comments about her character and pressuring her to admit to an alleged relationship with another trainee officer.

The woman also alleged that she was subjected to repeated verbal abuse during this period.

Serious Allegations of Assault and Wrongful Confinement

The complaint contains several allegations relating to incidents that allegedly occurred during the first half of July.

According to the woman officer, on July 8, the accused allegedly took possession of her mobile phone and forced her to disclose its password by threatening and blackmailing her. She further alleged that he sexually assaulted her by inappropriately touching and groping her without her consent.

She also alleged that on July 9, at around 9 p.m., the accused restrained her from leaving, forcibly took her into his room, grabbed her by the hair, attempted to strangle her and allegedly held a knife to her neck to prevent her from leaving the room.

The complainant further claimed that the accused threw three packets of condoms at her in an attempt to intimidate and humiliate her.

According to the complaint, another incident of physical assault allegedly occurred on the morning of July 10.

Allegations of Blackmail and Defamation

The woman IPS trainee has further alleged that the accused secretly recorded a private video of her without her knowledge or consent.

According to the complaint, the video was allegedly sent to her husband as part of an attempt to blackmail her.

She also alleged that the accused circulated false and defamatory information about her among others with the intention of damaging her personal reputation and professional image.

Police Register Case, Investigation Underway

Following the complaint, the Attapur Police registered a case against the accused trainee officer under relevant provisions of law.

Police sources confirmed that the accused has been identified as Uday Krishna Reddy, a fellow IPS trainee at the academy.

Officials said an investigation has commenced, and the allegations made in the complaint are being examined. No official statement has yet been issued by the accused regarding the allegations.

Academy Yet to Issue Official Statement

As of now, the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy has not issued any official statement regarding the incident or the complaint filed by the trainee officer.

The case has drawn attention due to the serious nature of the allegations and the fact that both the complainant and the accused are undergoing IPS training at India’s premier police training institution.

Investigation Will Determine the Facts

The complaint contains allegations of sexual harassment, physical assault, criminal intimidation, wrongful confinement and blackmail. Since the matter is currently under police investigation, the allegations have not been tested in a court of law, and no findings have yet been recorded regarding the claims made by either side.

The investigation by the Attapur Police is expected to determine the circumstances surrounding the incidents and whether further legal action is warranted.
