Lucknow: The search for the first-ever Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has drawn an overwhelming response from across the country, with more than 1,000 applications received for the prestigious position. The unexpectedly high number of applicants—most of them retired IAS, IPS and other senior government officials—has intensified interest in what is being viewed as one of the country’s most significant institutional appointments linked to the Ayodhya Ram Mandir.
The response has far exceeded the Trust’s expectations, prompting the search committee to devise a comprehensive screening mechanism before shortlisting candidates for interviews. The appointment comes at a crucial stage as the Trust seeks to strengthen the administrative and financial management of the Ram Mandir through a professional leadership structure.
Experienced Bureaucrats Dominate the Applicant Pool
According to sources, the overwhelming majority of applicants comprise retired IAS officers, IPS officers and senior bureaucrats from various government services. Their extensive experience in administration, finance, infrastructure management and governance is believed to make them strong contenders for the newly created post.
The large number of applications has made the selection process considerably more challenging, requiring a multi-stage evaluation before a final recommendation can be made.

Government Signals Preference for Administrative Experience
Speculation over the likely profile of the future CEO gathered momentum after Nripendra Mishra, Chairman of the Ram Temple Construction Committee and former Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, indicated that the government is inclined towards appointing an experienced administrator.
His remarks have further strengthened the perception that the Trust is looking for a candidate capable of managing the temple’s expanding administrative, financial and operational responsibilities while ensuring institutional accountability.
Search Committee to Begin Screening
With more than a thousand applications now under consideration, the search committee is preparing to begin the scrutiny process.
A crucial meeting of the committee has been scheduled for July 19, 2026, during which members are expected to finalise the eligibility screening criteria and interview schedule.
To facilitate the massive exercise, the committee will appoint a dedicated Secretary responsible for verifying the credentials and eligibility of applicants before the shortlisting process begins.
Following preliminary scrutiny, shortlisted candidates will be invited for personal interviews. The committee has also kept the option of conducting online interviews, if necessary.
The committee is expected to submit a progress report before the Trust during its main meeting scheduled for July 22, 2026.
Three-Year Contract with Performance-Based Extension
The selected CEO will be appointed on a three-year contractual term, with the possibility of extension based on performance and the requirements of the Trust.
The salary, service conditions and other benefits will be finalised through mutual discussions with the selected candidate.

The CEO is expected to play a central role in implementing modern governance practices while ensuring the smooth functioning of one of India’s most important religious institutions.
