BEML Wins 6 Honours at Business Innovation Awards 2026; CMD Shantanu Roy Named Visionary PSU Leader

Bengaluru: BEML Limited, a leading Defence Public Sector Undertaking (DPSU) under the Ministry of Defence, has bagged six prestigious honours at the 4th Edition of the Business Innovation Awards 2026, reaffirming its position as one of India’s leading engineering and manufacturing enterprises.

The awards recognise BEML’s achievements across innovation, organisational excellence, workplace culture, infrastructure development, corporate communications, and leadership. The recognition also comes on the back of a landmark financial year in which the company recorded its highest-ever turnover, research and development investment, order book, and capital expenditure.

BEML was honoured in the following categories:

  • Visionary Public Sector Leader of the Year – Mr. Shantanu Roy, Chairman & Managing Director
  • Best Performing PSU of the Year
  • Best Public Sector Workplace Culture
  • Infrastructure PSU of the Year
  • Public Sector Innovation Excellence Award
  • Public Sector Marketing & Communication Award

The multiple recognitions highlight the company’s continued focus on innovation-led growth, operational excellence, employee engagement, and brand building.

Senior Leadership Receives Awards

The awards were received by BEML’s senior leadership team on behalf of the company.

Mr. Anil Jerath, Director (Finance), accepted the Visionary Public Sector Leader of the Year award on behalf of CMD Shantanu Roy and also received the Best Performing PSU of the Year award.

Other award recipients included:

  • Mr. Debi Prasad Satpathy, Director (Human Resources) – Best Public Sector Workplace Culture
  • Mr. Sanjay Som, Director (Mining & Construction) – Infrastructure PSU of the Year
  • Mr. Om Prakash Singh, Executive Director (Rail & Metro) – Public Sector Innovation Excellence Award
  • Mr. Tapash Talukdar, Head – Corporate Communications – Public Sector Marketing & Communication Award

Recognition Follows Record Financial Year

The honours come during a milestone year for BEML. In FY 2025–26, the company achieved several historic milestones, including:

  • Highest investment in Research & Development
  • Highest order book in the company’s history
  • Highest capital expenditure

Landmark Achievements in Indigenous Manufacturing

During the financial year, BEML further strengthened its role in India’s self-reliance mission by delivering several pioneering engineering achievements.

The company successfully delivered India’s first Vande Bharat Sleeper trainset, marking a significant milestone in the country’s railway modernisation programme.

It also indigenously developed India’s first all-electric BRS21 Rope Shovel, showcasing its capabilities in advanced mining equipment and sustainable engineering solutions.

These innovations align with the Government of India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision and reinforce BEML’s contribution to strengthening domestic manufacturing capabilities.
