Visakhapatnam: Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) has provided financial assistance of ₹35 lakh for the distribution of assistive devices to 420 persons with disabilities from Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram districts of Andhra Pradesh under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
The programme was held on September 15, 2026, in association with Sri Gurudeva Charitable Trust and Hospital, Mangalapalem. The initiative was aimed at improving mobility, independence and quality of life for persons with disabilities.
HSL Provides Assistive Devices to 420 Beneficiaries
The beneficiaries received assistive devices based on their individual needs following a proper assessment process.
The devices distributed under the initiative included:
- Artificial limbs
- Wheelchairs
- Tricycles
- Hearing aids
- Calipers
- Crutches
- White canes
- Other customised assistive devices
The initiative focused on providing suitable support to beneficiaries to help them become more mobile and independent in their daily lives.

HSL CMD Highlights Importance of Dignity and Independence
Rear Admiral Chandrasekharan Raghuram, VSM (Retd.), Chairman and Managing Director of HSL, said the initiative was aimed at helping people move forward with dignity and confidence.
He expressed hope that improved mobility and independence would enable beneficiaries to pursue:
- Education opportunities
- Employment opportunities
- Greater independence
- An improved quality of life
The CMD also appreciated the dedicated efforts of Sri Gurudeva Charitable Trust, its medical team and volunteers for their contribution towards the initiative and community welfare.
HSL’s CSR Initiative Focuses on Community Welfare
The initiative reflects HSL’s focus on using its CSR activities to support the needs of local communities. By providing assistive devices according to individual requirements, the company aims to help persons with disabilities improve their mobility and participate more independently in everyday activities.
The programme covered beneficiaries from Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram, strengthening HSL’s community welfare efforts in the region.
