Chandigarh/Karnal: Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) Ajay Singhal, an IPS officer of 1982 batch, paid homage to 82 Haryana Police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty, reaffirming the state’s commitment to maintaining law and order while issuing a stern warning to criminals operating in the state.
The tribute ceremony was held at the Haryana Police Academy, Madhuban, in Karnal district, where the DGP laid a floral wreath at the martyrs’ memorial and honoured the brave personnel who made the supreme sacrifice while serving the people of Haryana.
Tribute to the Fallen Heroes
Addressing police officers and personnel during the ceremony, DGP Ajay Singhal described the sacrifices of the martyrs as an enduring source of inspiration for every member of the police force.
“Their sacrifice will burn as an eternal flame, guiding every officer who wears this uniform, and every generation to come, towards a life of honesty, integrity and fearless service,” he said.
The DGP stressed that the courage and dedication displayed by the fallen personnel continue to strengthen the values of discipline, commitment and public service within the Haryana Police.

Strong Warning to Criminals
Reiterating the Haryana government’s zero-tolerance policy against crime, Singhal said the police had successfully conveyed a clear message to criminals in line with Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s directions.
He stated that offenders now have only two choices—either abandon criminal activities or leave Haryana.
The DGP warned that anyone attempting to spread fear, violence or terror in society would face strict legal action and the full force of the law.
According to him, the fear of the law, which was once missing among hardened criminals, is now clearly visible on the faces of those who once believed they were beyond the reach of the police.

Appeal to Youth to Stay Away from Crime and Drugs
The Haryana Police chief also made a strong appeal to the state’s youth, urging them not to fall prey to criminal gangs, narcotics or anti-social elements operating from within the country or from foreign shores.
He cautioned young people against being influenced by the glamour often portrayed in films and on social media, describing it as an illusion far removed from reality.
Singhal said that while crime may appear attractive in fictional portrayals, in the real world the law is capable of reaching every hideout, border and criminal network.
“No offender can escape justice after committing a crime,” he asserted.
Focus on Welfare of Police Personnel
Highlighting the government’s commitment towards police welfare, the DGP said Haryana Police Headquarters has been continuously designing and implementing schemes aimed at improving the lives of serving personnel and their families.
He said these initiatives are intended to make the lives of police personnel more secure, comfortable and dignified, acknowledging the sacrifices made by officers in maintaining public safety.
The tribute ceremony concluded with renewed resolve among the police force to uphold the ideals of honesty, integrity and fearless service exemplified by the 82 martyrs, while continuing the state’s firm campaign against crime and anti-social activities.
