Gorakhpur: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated a ₹14.33 crore two-lane bridge in the Taramandal area of Gorakhpur, marking another milestone in the city’s rapid infrastructure development. The bridge, built over a water body, is expected to significantly improve internal connectivity in the region.
Bridge Built at Taramandal Becomes Symbol of Development
The newly inaugurated bridge has been constructed at a cost of over ₹14 crore and was officially dedicated to the public by CM Yogi through ribbon-cutting and digital inauguration.
The project aims to:
- Improve local connectivity
- Enhance urban mobility
- Support planned development around the water body

From Flood-Affected Zone to Prime Urban Area
Speaking at the event, CM Yogi Adityanath recalled that Taramandal was once a neglected and flood-affected area.
He said:
- In 1998 floods, residents were forced to leave the area
- Lack of basic infrastructure and sanitation was a major challenge
- The region was once considered unsafe for living
Today, however, Taramandal has transformed into one of Gorakhpur’s most expensive and fast-growing residential zones.
Gorakhpur Witnessing Rapid Development Since 2017
Highlighting the transformation of the city, CM Yogi said Gorakhpur has seen unprecedented development after 2017, including:
- Expansion of four-lane and six-lane road networks
- Establishment of AIIMS Gorakhpur
- Revival of fertilizer plant and sugar mill
- Development of Gorakhpur Zoo and Ramgarh Tal tourism hub
- Growth of educational institutions and Ayush University
- Expansion of hotels and tourism infrastructure
He stated that development in Gorakhpur is the result of planned governance and public participation.
Taramandal Emerging as a Modern Urban Hub
The Chief Minister said Taramandal has now become a symbol of prosperity and urban growth, with major projects including:
- Ramgarh Tal tourism development
- Construction of convention centre
- Revival of planetarium (Taramandal)
- Development of science park
- Beautification of surrounding water bodies
He also instructed officials to further integrate the water body with Ramgarh Tal and develop boating and recreational facilities for families.

Employment Growth and Industrial Expansion in Gorakhpur
CM Yogi noted that more than 50,000 youth have received employment opportunities in Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority (GIDA) alone.
He said earlier the region lacked investment due to poor infrastructure, but now:
- Industries are expanding rapidly
- Youth no longer need to migrate for jobs
- Gorakhpur has become an emerging economic hub
Focus on Cleanliness, Connectivity and Public Participation
The Chief Minister urged citizens to take responsibility for protecting development assets and maintaining cleanliness.
He emphasized:
- Community participation in maintaining infrastructure
- Cleanliness competition at the local level
- Sustainable urban development practices
Public Interaction and Recognition of Workers
During the inspection of the bridge, CM Yogi met construction workers and appreciated their efforts. He also clicked photographs with them, acknowledging their contribution to the project.
The event also saw participation from MP Ravi Kishan Shukla, who praised the Chief Minister’s leadership in transforming Gorakhpur into a model city of development.
The inauguration of the ₹14.33 crore bridge by CM Yogi Adityanath reflects Gorakhpur’s rapid urban transformation. Once a flood-affected and underdeveloped area, Taramandal is now emerging as a premium residential and tourism hub, symbolizing Uttar Pradesh’s broader infrastructure-led growth story.
