₹20,000 Before 2027 UP Polls? Yogi Govt May Roll Out ₹50,000 Financial Assistance Scheme for Women

Lucknow: The Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government is reportedly preparing a major financial assistance scheme for women ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. According to media reports citing sources, eligible women could receive financial assistance of up to ₹50,000, with the first instalment of ₹20,000 potentially being released before the elections.

However, the proposal has not yet been officially announced by the Uttar Pradesh government, and details regarding eligibility, implementation and the final instalment structure are awaited.

Women Could Receive Financial Assistance in Phases

According to the reports, the proposed scheme could provide financial assistance to eligible women in multiple phases.

Under the reported plan:

  • The first instalment could be ₹20,000 and may be released before the 2027 Assembly elections.
  • The remaining assistance could be provided after the formation of the next government.
  • One possibility being discussed is a ₹30,000 second instalment.
  • Another option could be to distribute the remaining amount through three instalments of ₹10,000 each.

The final structure of the scheme is yet to be confirmed.

Government Reportedly Planning to Empower Women Financially

The reported proposal is aimed at providing financial support to women and strengthening their economic independence.

The assistance could reportedly be used by beneficiaries for various purposes according to their individual needs. The proposed scheme is expected to cover women in both rural and urban areas if approved.

The government may also assess how beneficiaries use the initial financial assistance before determining the structure of subsequent instalments, according to the reports.

First ₹20,000 Instalment May Come Before 2027 Polls

The first instalment of ₹20,000 is being reported as the key component of the proposed plan.

If approved and implemented before the election process begins, the first payment could reach eligible women’s bank accounts ahead of the 2027 Assembly polls.

The remaining amount would reportedly be released in subsequent phases, potentially after the formation of the next government.

Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra Schemes Cited as Examples

Reports have linked the proposed Uttar Pradesh plan to similar women-focused financial assistance initiatives implemented in other states.

Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra have introduced financial support schemes targeting women around election periods. The reported UP proposal is being discussed in a similar context.

However, the exact design, eligibility criteria, payment schedule and implementation mechanism for Uttar Pradesh remain subject to an official government decision.

Official Announcement Still Awaited

At present, the reported ₹50,000 assistance plan remains a proposal under discussion, based on media reports and unnamed sources. The Uttar Pradesh government has yet to officially confirm the scheme, its eligibility conditions or the payment schedule.

Any final decision is expected to clarify whether the assistance will be provided in two or multiple instalments and which categories of women will qualify.
