Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has highlighted what he described as a major transformation in the state under the BJP-led “double engine” government, pointing to changes in law and order, education, infrastructure and youth development.

Speaking at a media event, he said eastern Uttar Pradesh had historically faced challenges linked to crime, disease, floods and poor infrastructure.

‘Mafia and Mosquitoes’ No Longer the Problem

Adityanath used the phrase “mafia and mosquitoes” to describe two longstanding problems associated with eastern Uttar Pradesh.

He alleged that earlier governments allowed criminal networks to function as parallel centres of power.

The Chief Minister said the BJP-led governments at the Centre and in the state had changed this situation and claimed that UP had become free from the influence of mafia networks.

He also linked the region’s past challenges with diseases caused by mosquitoes and questioned why problems involving health, education, unemployment and infrastructure persisted for decades.

Focus Shifts to Education and Skills

The Chief Minister said Uttar Pradesh’s young population is one of its biggest strengths and stressed the need to provide better education and modern skills.

He said skill development centres are being established to prepare young people for emerging technologies.

Students are also being exposed to areas such as:

  • Artificial intelligence
  • Space technology
  • Modern technical skills

Under Project Alankar, the state is renovating government inter colleges and upgrading facilities such as classrooms and laboratories.

Competitive Exam Coaching Expanded

Adityanath also highlighted the Mukhyamantri Abhyudaya Yojana, which provides coaching support to students preparing for major competitive examinations.

The programme offers virtual as well as physical coaching for examinations including UPSC, UPPSC, NEET and IIT-JEE.

According to the Chief Minister, UPSC-qualified officers posted in districts also guide students preparing for competitive examinations.

From Law and Order to Youth Opportunities

Adityanath said the government is focusing on better opportunities for youth through education, skills, exam support and new technologies.

The challenge is ensuring these initiatives reach urban and rural students and improve education, employment and public services.
