On World Tribal Day, IAS officer Suman Rawat Chandra posted a photograph of herself with tribal women, calling them her fierce friends from Nadurbar, Maharashtra. Posting the photo on Twitter, she wrote: “You may talk of sustainability as much as you may, but the true votaries of minimalism, life of symbiosis and interconnectnedness with nature is what is best learned from adivasi tribal.”

Calling them the true defenders of our natural resources, she further wrote that they are the keepers of traditional ecological knowledge, fierce defenders of the rights of the forest and standing of our trees.
