After finishing exam, engineering students in Goa have started work with police to develop a e-beat system app which will help the police to control crimes and effectively manage policing operations. The photos of students working with police in brainstorming sessions went viral.
Goa Police is soon going to introduce the e-beat system, for better policing of the coastal state. The good part is that this system is being developed by local engineering students. The app developed by these students will enable officers to retrieve information about any beat in the state with a click.
The brain behind this initiative is 2012-batch IPS officer and North Goa SP, Mr. Nidhin Valsan. He thought of an idea and got it developed by local engineering college students.
Earlier, the department tried to develop this app from private companies, but they demanded a huge sum of money, almost a whopping 1 crore!
Amazingly, using students worked! The cost of the project was reduced drastically to just 5 lakhs! Thus, the department will save almost 95 lakhs of government money.
SP North Goa posted on X, “After exams, Goa College of Engineering young brains working in ‘Goa police’ cyber lab developing E Beat Book App. IPS officer Sachin Yadav along with Prajyot Mainkar, interacting with them and addressing their queries.”
