Uttarakhand Chief Minister Mr. Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday inaugurated the Vigilance Awareness Campaign at the State Secretariat in Dehradun, based on the theme “Vigilance – Our Shared Responsibility.” The campaign, aimed at promoting integrity and transparency across government departments, will be conducted statewide through multiple mediums until the State Foundation Day on November 9.
‘Vigilance – Our Shared Responsibility’ to Strengthen Public Trust
Speaking to the media after inaugurating the campaign, Mr. Dhami stressed the government’s unwavering commitment to fighting corruption and ensuring accountability in public service. He urged all government officials to work with complete transparency and integrity, reiterating that there will be no tolerance for corrupt practices.
Mr. Dhami emphasized that ongoing investigations into corruption cases will continue without interruption and that strict action will be taken against anyone found guilty of negligence or wrongdoing. He said the campaign aims to create a transparent governance ecosystem where citizens can complete their work without obstacles or harassment.
Dhami’s Call for Collective Responsibility in Governance
“Today, the campaign ‘Vigilance – Our Shared Responsibility’ has begun. All government officials have been requested that, in no circumstances, corruption should take place, and there should be full transparency in work. This message must reach every level. Whoever indulges in corruption or displays carelessness will not be spared,” said Mr. Dhami.
He added that this campaign represents a step towards a governance model that is people-centric, transparent, and efficient, ensuring that government services reach every citizen seamlessly.
A Green Step Forward as Uttarakhand Marks 25 Years
In a significant announcement to commemorate Uttarakhand completing 25 years of its formation, the state government has decided to implement a “Green Cess” on vehicles entering the state from other parts of the country. The initiative, as per the Chief Minister’s Office, is designed to strengthen Uttarakhand’s commitment to environmental sustainability and cleaner air.
Revenue to Support Air Quality and Green Infrastructure
The revenue generated through the Green Cess will be utilized for projects related to air pollution control, green infrastructure development, and smart traffic management systems. This step, according to the state government, will mark a new milestone in making Uttarakhand a model of “Clean Air – Healthy Life.”
Sustainable Development Through Green Governance
Mr. Dhami reiterated, “As Uttarakhand completes 25 years, our commitment is to make the state clean, green, and pollution-free. The revenue generated through the ‘Green Cess’ will be used to improve air quality, enhance green infrastructure, and strengthen smart traffic management.”
With the dual focus on clean governance and clean environment, Uttarakhand’s new initiatives signal a forward-looking approach to sustainable development and public welfare.
