PMAY-G Scheme Update: 5 Lakh Houses, ₹8,368.50 Crore, 35 PMGSY Roads Approved

The Centre will launch Grih Pravesh for 5 lakh PMAY-G houses in Maharashtra and release ₹8,368.50 crore for rural housing along with 35 PMGSY-IV road projects worth ₹122.98 crore.

Mumbai: The PMAY-G scheme is set to receive a major push as Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will launch the “Grih Pravesh” ceremony for 5 lakh completed rural houses in Maharashtra on May 15, 2026. The event will take place in Satara in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

The central government will also release ₹8,368.50 crore under Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) and approve 35 new PMGSY-IV rural road projects worth ₹122.98 crore for Maharashtra. The announcement is expected to strengthen rural housing, road connectivity, and village infrastructure across the state.

PMAY-G Scheme Beneficiary Conference to Be Held in Satara

The event will be organized at Sainik School Ground in Satara under the “PMAY-G Beneficiary Conference and Maha Awaas Abhiyan State-Level Awards Ceremony”.

Senior leaders expected to attend include:

  • Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis
  • Deputy CM Eknath Shinde
  • Deputy CM Sunetra Ajit Pawar
  • Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan

During the programme, six PMAY-G beneficiaries will receive house keys directly from the Union Minister, including the beneficiary linked with the completion of the scheme’s 3 croreth rural house milestone.

₹8,368.50 Crore Released for PMAY-G Scheme in  Maharashtra

The Centre will issue a mother sanction of ₹8,368.50 crore as the central share for Maharashtra under PMAY-G for FY 2026-27.

The financial assistance aims to:

  • Speed up construction of rural pucca houses
  • Improve housing access for poor rural families
  • Expand basic amenities in villages
  • Support “Housing for All” goals in rural India

According to official government data, Maharashtra has shown strong implementation progress under PMAY-G:

  • Target allocated: 43.80 lakh houses
  • Houses sanctioned: 41.42 lakh
  • Houses completed: 17.92 lakh

In Satara district alone:

  • Target houses: 55,052
  • Houses sanctioned: 54,759
  • Houses completed: 24,848

What is the PMAY-G Scheme?

Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin is one of the flagship schemes of the Government of India aimed at providing permanent houses with basic facilities to eligible rural households.

The scheme was launched to replace kutcha and damaged houses in villages with safe pucca homes. Under PMAY-G:

  • Financial support is provided directly to beneficiaries
  • Houses include basic facilities like electricity, sanitation, and drinking water support
  • Women ownership is encouraged
  • Funds are transferred digitally for transparency

As per official government figures:

  • 4.15 crore houses have been allocated nationwide
  • 3.91 crore houses have been sanctioned
  • More than 3.03 crore houses have been completed as of May 11, 2026

PMGSY-IV Road Projects Approved for Maharashtra

The Centre will also approve 35 road projects under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY-IV).

Key highlights:

  • Total project value: ₹122.98 crore
  • Total road length: 95.99 km
  • Villages to benefit: 35 rural habitations

The projects aim to improve:

  • All-weather road connectivity
  • Access to schools and hospitals
  • Market access for farmers
  • Rural transportation infrastructure

Officials said better roads can improve economic activity and public service access in remote areas.

Maharashtra’s Rural Road Development Progress Under PMAY-G Scheme

Under PMGSY, Maharashtra has already achieved major rural infrastructure expansion:

  • More than 34,000 km of rural roads approved
  • Over 1,000 bridges sanctioned
  • Investment exceeding ₹15,000 crore

The government is also promoting green and sustainable road construction technologies in the state to improve long-term rural infrastructure quality.
