Isha Singh, an IPS officer of 2021 batch had a law background before entering into Indian Police Service. She completed her graduation from National Law School of Bangalore.

She thinks that constitution and the courts are an amazing way of providing justice. From a very young age she had a natural inclination towards justice.

WHY CIVIL SERVICES?

Her father Mr. Y P Singh an IPS officer, who also served as Police Commissioner of Mumbai, was her inspiration. Speaking with Indian Masterminds, she said, “When I was 9, my father quit from the service. I have seen the way he worked. As I grew older, I read about the cases he did while he was in the CBI and his other postings as an IPS officer.”

She believes that the Indian Civil services needs upright people, who are there just to solve the problems of the nation, and serve the people. “That’s why I decided to join the service even though I really liked litigation.”

PROUD PARENTS

Isha’s Naana was a police officer and her father Ex-IPS officer YP Singh was also in service. “I am now quite excited to be the third person in the family to be a cop,” she added.

While preparing for the service, she was also practicing in the Bombay high court. During her practicing, she worked on cases of internet freedom, sexual harassment, represented the widows of disease manual scavengers in the Bombay high court.
