Asansol: Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) has signed Letters of Intent (LoIs) for three Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects in Paschim Bardhaman district at the CSR Roundtable 2026 held in Kolkata.
The roundtable was convened by the Finance Department, Government of West Bengal, under the theme “Building a Viksit Bengal for Collective Social Impact.” The event brought together senior government officials, Central and State Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), private sector organisations and CSR representatives to discuss development priorities and opportunities for collaborative interventions.
ECL Signs Three CSR Project LoIs
At the CSR Roundtable, Gunjan Kumar Sinha, Director (HR), ECL, presented the Letters of Intent for the three projects.
The projects are focused on key community development areas:
- Nutritional support for TB patients in Paschim Bardhaman under the Ni-kshay Mitra initiative, as part of the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
- Renovation of Anganwadi Centres located around ECL’s mining areas to support early childhood care and community welfare.
- Rejuvenation of a water body in one of ECL’s operational areas to support water conservation and sustainable development.
These projects are aimed at addressing local development needs and strengthening community welfare in areas surrounding ECL’s operations.

CSR Roundtable 2026 Focuses on Collective Social Impact
The CSR Roundtable 2026 was organised in Kolkata by the Finance Department, Government of West Bengal.
The event was held under the theme “Building a Viksit Bengal for Collective Social Impact” and provided a platform for government bodies, PSUs, private organisations and CSR representatives to discuss development priorities.
The event was attended by Dr. Swapan Dasgupta, Minister-in-Charge, Finance Department, Government of West Bengal, along with senior government officials and other dignitaries. The discussions focused on opportunities for collaborative CSR interventions aimed at addressing development requirements across West Bengal.
ECL’s Ni-kshay Mitra Initiative Receives Special Mention
ECL’s Ni-kshay Mitra initiative received special mention during the roundtable.
Narayan Swaroop Nigam, Principal Secretary, Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of West Bengal, appreciated ECL’s efforts to provide nutritional support to TB patients in Paschim Bardhaman.
He also appreciated ECL’s initiative to provide diagnostic equipment to strengthen preventive healthcare measures in the district.
Focus on Health, Childcare and Water Conservation
The three CSR projects signed at the roundtable address three important areas of community development — healthcare, early childhood care and water conservation.
The initiatives are aligned with local development priorities and the needs of communities living in and around ECL’s operational areas.
Through these interventions, ECL aims to contribute to:
- Improved nutritional support for TB patients.
- Better facilities at Anganwadi Centres.
- Strengthened preventive healthcare through diagnostic equipment.
- Conservation and rejuvenation of local water resources.
- Sustainable community development in its command areas.
