MCL Partners with CIPET Bhubaneswar to Train 40 Youths in Electrician & Fitter Trades Under ₹1.26 Crore CSR Initiative

Through a 2-year residential ITI programme, Mahanadi Coalfields Limited aims to boost employability by providing fully funded skill training, food, and accommodation for students from its operational areas.

New Delhi: Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) has strengthened its commitment to youth empowerment by partnering with the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology (CIPET), Bhubaneswar. The collaboration aims to provide structured, industry-oriented skill training to young candidates from MCL’s operational areas, enhancing their employability and long-term livelihood opportunities.

2-Year Residential ITI Training for Electrician and Fitter Trades

Under this initiative, 40 selected youths will undergo a two-year residential ITI programme at CIPET Bhubaneswar.

The batch includes:

  • 20 students in Electrician Trade
  • 20 students in Fitter Trade

The programme is designed to deliver hands-on technical training aligned with industry requirements, ensuring that trainees gain practical skills along with theoretical knowledge.

₹1.26 Crore CSR Funding for Full Student Support

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, Mahanadi Coalfields Limited will fund ₹1.26 crore to support the entire training programme.

The funding will cover:

  • Training expenses
  • Food and accommodation
  • Residential facilities and other associated costs

This ensures that financial constraints do not prevent deserving students from accessing quality technical education.

Sixth Batch of Skill Development Programme at CIPET

This marks the sixth batch of the ITI training programme conducted at CIPET Bhubaneswar under MCL’s CSR initiative.

  • Three earlier batches (2021–23, 2022–24, 2023–25) have been successfully completed
  • More than 97 candidates have already been placed in jobs
  • Two ongoing batches (2024–26 and 2025–27) are currently in progress

The continued rollout of batches highlights the sustained impact and success of the programme.

Focus on Employability and Inclusive Growth

The collaboration between MCL and CIPET reflects a strong focus on:

  • Skill development in coal-bearing regions
  • Creating a trained workforce for industry needs
  • Supporting inclusive socio-economic growth
  • Reducing unemployment through vocational education

By investing in structured training and practical exposure, the initiative aims to create a strong pipeline of skilled youth ready for employment in technical sectors.
