A Beautiful Act Of Humanity!

A senior IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre was caught on camera selling vegetables. When his intention behind this came to the fore, people became fans of his simplicity.
Indian Masterminds Stories

Things are often so twisted on social media that sometimes even a humane act is depicted as negative. A good samaritan IAS officer in Uttar Pradesh has a similar experience. Just imagine you buying something on the street. Then you come to know that the shopkeeper from whom you are buying the goods is an IAS officer. What would be your reaction?

Actually, this happened when some pictures of a senior IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre went viral on social media. In these pictures, IAS Dr. Akhilesh Mishra, posted as Special Secretary in the UP Transport Department, is seen selling vegetables on a street. A woman is also sitting in front of him and is probably sorting vegetables to buy. These pictures were shared from Akhilesh’s social media account itself.

Then the self-proclaimed judges of their social media without realising the truth started giving different reactions. Some people even said that IAS officer is selling vegetables due to side posting. Later these pictures were deleted by Dr Akhilesh himself.

WHAT HAPPENED

Indian Masterminds spoke to Dr. Akhilesh Mishra to know his version of the story. He said, “I had gone to Prayagraj yesterday for some official work. While returning from there, I stopped at a place to buy some vegetables. The vegetable-seller was an old lady who requested me to look after her shop for a while, till she returns after retrieving her child who was playing nearby. It was just out of humanity.”

Meanwhile, many customers came to the shop and that vegetable seller lady also returned. Meanwhile, a friend accompanying him, clicked his photo on the vegetable kiosk and uploaded them on his social media account from his phone. “His intention was to create humour. When I saw those pictures, I deleted them,” said Dr Mishra.

SENSE OF HUMANITY

In today’s commercial world when even common people think twice before lending a helping hand to a stranger, Dr Mishra did demonstrate an exemplary trait. It might have a small act of altruism, but instead of encouraging such act and without knowing the actual story, people start trolling them in social media. Instead such a simplicity should have received a lot of appreciation for the helping a woman.

A humble person, Dr Akhilesh says, “No IAS officer is born with a bun. This is where our system makes people IAS officers. So, it is our duty to help common people. But we also have a personal life and we have every right to live it. But as soon as I felt that people were referencing my pictures in a wrong way, I removed them.”

Some people are appreciating Akhilesh’s side as his nobility.

Dr. Akhilesh had a reputation of being a very active officer, who is always ready to connect with the common people and solve their problems. Not only this, Akhilesh is also a very good poet and is also involved in literary and contemporary discussions.
