Union Public Service Commission or simply UPSC Examination is probably one of the toughest deals to crack in an aspirant’s life. The amount of strong will and hard work that it requires is beyond measure. Numerable books and sleepless nights become their companion for the rest of the days until they crack the exam. A UPSC aspirant’s life is not less than a complicated hurdle course, at the end of which, they are able to achieve their dreams and lead a better life for themselves, and for their people.

Similar are the stories of our new bureaucrats who have recently cleared the UPSC examination for the year 2020. From leaving behind the service of a doctor for IAS to pledging to crack the exam in the previous year and finally doing so, we present to you our top five stories of civil service aspirants from the month of October.

A VIRAL MEME STAR FOR SECURING 99.6% IN 12TH BOARD, BAGS AIR 17 IN FIRST ATTEMPT

In 2014, Sarthak Agarwal had become a viral meme star for securing 99.6% in his 12th board exam. In 2020, he has become a UPSC star by securing AIR 17 in the premier examination of the country. Before appearing for the exam, he was working in World Bank as a Researcher in the Poverty & Equity Global Unit. In an exclusive interview, Sarthak revealed what made him leave the World Bank and get into Indian civil services.

WHY A DOCTOR CHOSE IAS AFTER MBBS

Dr. Akshita Gupta, from Ambala, Punjab, was known as an MBBS doctor till the other day. Today, she has added another qualification to her name. That of an IAS! She cleared the civil services exam in her first attempt with a top rank of 69 this year. In an exclusive conversation, Dr. Gupta said that she decided to join IAS because it’s a better platform for her to help the needy.

AN MBBS DOCTOR WHO CRACKED UPSC CIVIL SERVICES EXAM TWICE

Dr. Shubham Maurya from Bhadohi district, Uttar Pradesh, cracked the UPSC Civil Services examination twice – 2019 and 2020. To crack one of India’s toughest exams two times in a row is not an easy feat. A feat he managed to perform by his precision to details and confidence in his skills – qualities honed by his training in medical science. TREAT UPSC LIKE ANY OTHER EXAM, SAYS THE BOY WHO GOT AIR 149 IN FIRST TRY, WITHOUT COACHING

By clearing UPSC 2020 exam in his very first attempt, and that too, without any coaching, 22-year-old Adarsh Kant Shukla of Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, proved that one can crack a competitive exam without joining coaching classes. While most young people fulfill their own dreams by clearing UPSC CS exams, this year’s AIR 67 Vasu Jain fulfilled his mother’s dream of becoming a civil service officer. In an exclusive conversation, he revealed that his mother herself dreamt of becoming a civil servant when she was younger, so the dream genetically got transferred to him, as well!
