11 IPS Officers Transferred in Uttar Pradesh, Police Chiefs Changed in 7 Districts, Nilabja Choudhury Made ADG, CID

Lucknow: Following the recent large-scale transfer of IAS and PCS officers, the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government has now implemented a significant reshuffle in the police department, transferring and posting 11 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers.

This latest administrative shake-up, aimed at strengthening law enforcement and enhancing policing efficiency across the state, includes officers from the 2000 to 2018 batches. The transfers were formalized through official order No. DG-1-18 (04) – 2025, dated April 15, 2025.

Senior-Level Changes

The reshuffle includes major changes at the top levels of the police force:

  • Nilabja Choudhury (IPS-RR-2000) has been transferred from his current role as Additional Director General (ADG) of Police, ATS, U.P., Lucknow, and will now serve as ADG, CID, U.P., Lucknow.
  • Ajay Kumar Mishra (IPS-RR-2003) moves from the position of Commissioner of Police, Ghaziabad to take over as Inspector General (IG) of Police, Prayagraj Zone.
  • J. J Ravindra Gaur (IPS-RR-2005), Commissioner of Police in the Agra Police Commissionerate, has been appointed as the Commissioner of Police, Police Commissionerate Ghaziabad.
  • Deepak Kumar (IPS-RR-2005), IG, Agra Zone, Agra has been posted as Police Commissioner, Police Commissionerate Agra.
  • Prem Kumar Gautam (IPS-RR-2005) who is IG, Prayagraj Zone, Prayagraj, will now serve IG, ATS, Lucknow, UP.

Mid-Level Postings

The reshuffle also includes several crucial postings at the district level:

  • Shailesh Kumar Pandey (IPS-RR-2011) who was serving as Deputy Inspector General (DIG)/Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Mathura, has been posted as DIG, Agra Zone, Agra.
  • Shlok Kumar (IPS-RR-2014), SSP, Bulandshahr, will now serve as SSP, Mathura.
  • Dinesh Kumar Singh (IPS-SPS-2014), Superintendent of Police (SP), Barabanki, has been appointed as SSP, Bulandshahr.
  • Premchand (IPS-SPS-2014), SP, U.P. Police Recruitment & Promotion Board, Lucknow and will now serve as Commander, 6th Battalion PAC, Meerut.
  • Arpit Vijayvargiya (IPS-RR-2017), SP, Baghpat, will take charge as SP, Barabanki.
  • Suraj Kumar Rai (IPS-RR-2018), Commander, 6th Battalion PAC, Meerut, has been appointed SP, Baghpat.

Strengthening Law Enforcement

This latest round of transfers underscores the state government’s focus on streamlining leadership and deploying experienced officers in key zones and districts. The reshuffle is expected to reinforce operational efficiency and improve public safety across Uttar Pradesh.
