Jammu: In one of the most significant administrative overhauls in recent times, the Jammu and Kashmir Home Department has issued transfer and posting orders for 113 police officers, including 17 IPS and 96 JKPS officers. The reshuffle, as per Government Order No. 207-Home of 2025, is aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and strengthening the police administration across the Union Territory.
Among the top-level IPS reshuffles, Uttam Chand (IPS-2002) has been posted as IGP (Police Operations & Services) at the Police Headquarters. Sarah Rizvi (IPS-2008) has taken charge as DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, replacing Rayees Mohammad Bhat, who now serves as DIG CID Kashmir.
Other Key IPS Transfers:
- Shiekh Junaid Mehmood (IPS-2009) is now awaiting posting.
- Umesh Kumar (IPS-2009) is the new DIG Training PHQ.
- Jatinder Singh Johar (IPS-2012) has been posted as Director, Police Telecommunication.
- Sanjeev Kumar Yadav (IPS-2013) becomes Commandant, 3rd Bn IR.
- Sanjeev Kumar Khajuria (IPS-2014) now leads the 1st Border Bn JKAP.
- Tanushree (IPS-2017) has been posted as SP SIA Headquarters.
- Bisma Qazi (IPS-2017) becomes Commandant, 2nd Women Bn JKAP.
- Ajaz Ahmad Bhat (IPS-2013) is now SSP Anantnag, replacing G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, who moves to SSP Srinagar.
- Amritpal Singh (IPS-2014) becomes Principal PTTI Vijaypur.
- Ranjit Singh Sambyal (IPS-2013) has been appointed SSP Traffic City Srinagar.

The reshuffle has also touched a wide array of JKPS officers, with substantial changes across field and staff roles, including Home Guards, CID, IR battalions, Special Security Group, and various district and forensic wings.

Younger officers such as Azhar Bashir Baba, Tanweer Ahmad Dar, Zoheb Tanweer, and Mashkoor Ahmad Zargar have also received fresh assignments in district policing, traffic, operations, and CID.

The Home Department stated that this comprehensive reshuffle was done “in the interest of administration” and aims to streamline command structures, improve on-ground policing, and optimize operational delivery across all districts and specialized units in Jammu and Kashmir.
