Chennai: In a significant administrative reshuffle in Tamil Nadu, the MK Stalin led state government issued transfer and posting orders for 13 IPS officers across the state on Monday evening (24.02.2025).
Among the notable changes, 2009 batch IPS officer P. Balaji, currently serving as SP/Assistant IG in the Welfare department under the Office of DGP/HoPF, has been appointed as the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Redhills, Avadi Police Commissionerate. He takes over from Dr. K. S. Bala Krisshnan, the outgoing DCP of Avadi, who has been transferred and posted as SP/Assistant IG, Welfare, O/o DGP/HoPF.
Other notable postings include:
- S. Brinda, 2019 batch IPS officer and DCP of North Salem City, has been transferred to become SP/Commandant, Tamil Nadu Special Police, Regimental Centre, Avadi.
- D. Ashok Kumar, the SP-I of the Cyber Crimes Division in Chennai, has been moved to SP/Commandant, Tamil Nadu Special Police VII Battalion, Pochampalli.
- S. Ayyasamy, previously serving as SP/Commandant at the Regimental Centre in Avadi, has now been appointed as SP/Commandant, Tamil Nadu Special Police XIII Battalion, Chennai.
- Dr. Deepa Sathyan, who was the SP/Commandant of the Tamil Nadu Special Police XIII Battalion in Chennai, has been transferred and posted as DCP, South, Tiruppur City.
Additionally, there are several changes in the Greater Chennai Police:
- G. Subulakshmi, DCP of Koyambedu, has been transferred and posted as DCP, Administration, Greater Chennai Police.
- K. Adhiveerapandiyan, previously DCP (Administration) for Greater Chennai Police, has been moved to DCP, Koyambedu, Greater Chennai Police.
Other significant appointments include:
- C. Sangu, SP/Commandant, Tamil Nadu Special Police VII Battalion, has been posted as DCP, Traffic, Avadi.
- I. Shahnaz, Assistant SP of Orathanadu Sub-Division in Thanjavur, has been promoted to SP-I Cyber Crimes Division, Cyber Crime Wing, Chennai.
- R. Uthayakumar, Assistant SP of Sriperumbudur Sub-Division in Kancheepuram District, has been promoted and posted as DCP, South Coimbatore City.
- NU Sivaraman, Assistant SP of Ramanathapuram Sub-Division, Ramanathapuram District, has been transferred and posted to a new role.
- P. Sibin, Assistant SP of Dindigul Town Sub-Division, Dindigul District, has been promoted and appointed as DCP, North Trichy City.
This extensive reshuffling of IPS officers is aimed at improving the administrative functioning of the state’s police departments, ensuring enhanced law enforcement, and streamlining operations in key areas.
