Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government has transferred senior IPS officer A Radhika to the waiting list, days after she was questioned by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing allegations of sexual offences against minors involving industrialist R Veeramani, owner of Gem Granites.
The Home Department issued the transfer and posting orders on October 21. Radhika was serving as Inspector General of Police (Administration) in the office of the Director General of Police (DGP)/Head of Police Force in Chennai.
N Kamini, who was serving as Inspector General of Police and Commissioner of Police, Tiruchirappalli City, has been appointed to the administrative post previously held by Radhika.

Career in Tamil Nadu Police
Radhika has held senior assignments within the Tamil Nadu Police, including positions in enforcement, armed police and the Greater Chennai Police’s crime investigation setup.
She served as Additional Commissioner of Police, Central Crime Branch, Greater Chennai, before her subsequent administrative assignment at the DGP’s office.
She has received several recognitions in her career, including the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service in 2025, the Police Medal for Meritorious Service in 2018 and the Special Duty Medal in 2019.
Why Has A Radhika’s Name Come Up in the Veeramani Case?
The SIT is investigating allegations of sexual abuse involving minor girls and examining how the complaints were handled by the police.
Radhika was among the senior officers questioned as investigators reviewed the sequence of events surrounding the initial complaint and the subsequent investigation.
According to earlier reports, she had served as Additional Commissioner of Police in the Central Crime Branch when the original case was handled. Investigators have also examined other senior police officials and personnel connected with the matter.
How the Veeramani Investigation Developed
The case first came to police attention in October 2025, when a child welfare volunteer reportedly handed over a pen drive said to contain footage allegedly showing a sexual offence against a minor.
The Central Crime Branch registered a case after examining the material. The initial investigation did not result in Veeramani’s arrest.
In February 2026, police submitted a closure report, citing difficulties in establishing the identity and whereabouts of the minor shown in the footage, among other evidentiary concerns.
A special court dealing with cases under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act subsequently rejected the closure report and directed further investigation.
The renewed probe led to the arrest of Veeramani and two associates, Shanthi and her husband, Simhan, according to published reports. Investigators have since examined additional digital evidence and statements from other alleged survivors.
Veeramani has reportedly been booked in at least seven POCSO cases involving 11 minor girls. The allegations remain subject to investigation and judicial proceedings.
Other Police Officials Examined by the SIT
The inquiry has extended beyond Radhika to officers who served in positions connected with the handling of the initial complaint.
Earlier reporting identified former Greater Chennai Police Commissioner A. Arun and IPS officer N Kannan among the senior officers examined by investigators.
Both officers were placed on compulsory wait in September amid scrutiny of the police response to the allegations. Assistant Commissioner of Police M A Yasmin was also moved to the Chief Office Vacancy Reserve, according to earlier reports.
What Happens Next?
Radhika’s transfer to the waiting list marks the latest administrative change involving senior police officers during the ongoing investigation.
The SIT’s work remains focused on the allegations against Veeramani, the evidence collected in the cases and the handling of the complaints by the police.
