New Delhi: Ajay Verma has assumed charge as Executive Director (Vishnugad-Pipalkoti Hydro Electric Project – VPHEP) at THDC India Limited with effect from May 1, 2026. His elevation from Chief General Manager (E8) to Executive Director (E9) was approved following the recommendation of the company’s Departmental Promotion Committee.
Prior to this appointment, Verma was serving as Head of Project for the 444 MW Vishnugad-Pipalkoti Hydro Electric Project since 2023.
Over 30 Years of Experience in Power and Infrastructure
A seasoned civil engineering professional, Verma brings more than three decades of extensive experience in the power and infrastructure sector. He began his career with THDC India Limited on July 30, 1990, as an Engineer (Trainee) and has since held several key leadership roles.
He graduated in civil engineering from M.S. Ramaiah College in 1988. He also holds a postgraduate diploma in construction management from Delhi Productivity Council (1998) and a postgraduate certificate in project management from Indian Institute of Management Indore (2015).

Key Contributions to Major Power Projects
Throughout his career, Verma has made significant contributions across critical domains such as rehabilitation, construction, corporate contracts, vigilance, and project planning and quality control.
He has been associated with major infrastructure projects, including the spillway works of the Tehri Dam and planning and quality control at the Koteshwar Dam.
Verma also played a key role in the successful commissioning of the Dhukwan Small Hydro Electric Project (3×8 MW). Later, at the Khurja Super Thermal Power Project (1,320 MW), he led contracts management and handled the ash dyke package, demonstrating his expertise in large-scale thermal and hydro projects.
Driving Progress at Vishnugad-Pipalkoti Project
As Head of Project since 2023, Verma has been instrumental in accelerating progress at the Vishnugad-Pipalkoti Hydro Electric Project. The project has seen significant advancement under his leadership, supported by his effective decision-making and ability to manage complex social, geological, and technical challenges.
His appointment as Executive Director is expected to further strengthen project execution and ensure timely completion.
