New Delhi: The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has relieved Amit Samdariya, IRS (Customs & Indirect Taxes: 2016), to enable him to join the National Testing Agency (NTA) as Joint Director. His appointment has been made on a deputation basis under the Central Staffing Scheme (CSS).
Samdariya’s services have been placed at the disposal of the Department of Higher Education for a period of four years. He will serve as Joint Director at the NTA during his deputation tenure.

The 2016-batch IRS officer has been formally relieved by CBIC from his existing responsibilities for taking up the new assignment at the NTA.
The appointment has been made under the Central Staffing Scheme, which facilitates the deputation of officers from different government services to central government departments and organisations.

Who Is Amit Samdariya?
Amit Samdariya is a 2016-batch Indian Revenue Service (Customs & Indirect Taxes) officer with experience in India’s indirect tax and revenue administration system.
He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi.
Before moving to the NTA, Samdariya was serving as Joint Commissioner at the Directorate General of Goods and Services Tax Intelligence (DGGI), Delhi Headquarters.
He joined the Indian Revenue Service in 2016 and was promoted from Deputy Commissioner to Joint Commissioner in May 2026.
