Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government led by N. Chandrababu Naidu has extended the tenure of Chief Secretary G. Sai Prasad by six months, following approval from the Central Government.
According to the official order, the 1991-batch IAS officer of the Andhra Pradesh cadre will continue as the state’s top bureaucrat from June 1, 2026 to November 30, 2026.
Prasad had assumed charge as Chief Secretary on March 1, 2026, succeeding K. Vijayanand. His appointment as Chief Secretary was originally notified by the state government on November 29, 2025.
Extension Approved Ahead of Scheduled Retirement
G. Sai Prasad was due to retire on May 31, 2026. With the six-month extension, he will now remain in office until November 30, 2026, ensuring continuity in administration during a crucial period for the state government.
His overall date of superannuation remains December 31, 2026.
Who Is G. Sai Prasad?
Born on May 6, 1966, G. Sai Prasad is a senior IAS officer of the 1991 batch from the Andhra Pradesh cadre. He cleared the UPSC Civil Services Examination in 1990 at the age of 25.
He holds an M.Tech. degree, and his engineering background has helped him manage technically demanding portfolios such as power, water resources, infrastructure, land administration, and governance.
