Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh has stepped up its cybercrime response with the inauguration of a Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (C4) in Vijayawada, along with plans for a state-level Cyber War Room and a proposed Cyber Guard policy.
Andhra Pradesh DGP Harish Kumar Gupta, a 1992-batch IPS officer Andhra Pradesh cadre, inaugurated the C4 centre at the Krishnalanka police station under the NTR District Police Commissionerate on Wednesday. The facility has been developed with the support of the AP Police Housing Corporation.
20 Cyber Constables to Be Deployed in Every District
Gupta said similar C4 centres would be established across Andhra Pradesh, along with specialised cybercrime teams.

As part of the planned expansion:
- 20 cyber constables will be appointed in every district.
- Specialised teams will support cybercrime detection and investigation.
- District-level cybercrime capabilities will be strengthened through dedicated infrastructure and personnel.
The move comes as the state seeks to improve its ability to investigate increasingly sophisticated cyber offences.
State-Level Cyber War Room Planned
The DGP also said Andhra Pradesh was introducing a Cyber Guard policy to strengthen its overall response to cybercrime.
A state-level Cyber War Room is also planned as part of the initiative. The earlier Cyber Guard framework announced by the state had envisaged a centralised mechanism for coordinating cybercrime response and improving the use of technology in investigations.
C4 Centre to Analyse Digital Trails
NTR District Police Commissioner S.V. Rajasekhar Babu said the new C4 centre would analyse information from the initial complaint filed by a victim through to the digital trail of suspected offenders.
The centre is intended to help investigators follow available digital leads, strengthen coordination and improve the police response to cybercrime.
The Vijayawada police have also established specialised cybercrime capabilities, including a Cyber Radar unit and cyber laboratory, alongside the C4 facility.
Police Urge Victims to Report Fraud Immediately
Gupta urged people who fall victim to cyber fraud to report the incident without delay.
Victims can:
- Call the national cybercrime helpline 1930.
- File a complaint through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.
- Provide relevant transaction and digital evidence to investigators as quickly as possible.
The police have stressed that prompt reporting is important in cyber-fraud cases, particularly where financial transactions are involved.
The new C4 centre is part of Andhra Pradesh’s broader effort to build specialised, technology-driven policing capacity against cybercrime.
