New Delhi: The Railway Board has approved the appointment of Anjum Pervez as the regular Managing Director (MD) of the National High Speed Rail Corporation Ltd. (NHSRCL) on a contract/re-employment basis for a period of two years.
Pervez will assume charge as the Managing Director on or after October 1, 2026, following his tenure as Director (Projects) at NHSRCL. His appointment will be effective from the date he assumes charge or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Anjum Pervez to Take Charge as NHSRCL MD
According to the appointment order, Pervez will be appointed as MD on re-employment on contract basis for two years.
Key details of the appointment are:
- Appointee: Anjum Pervez

- Appointment basis: Re-employment on contract
- Tenure: Two years
- Effective date: On or after October 1, 2026
- Tenure condition: Until completion of two years or further orders, whichever is earlier
The order has been issued in relaxation of the extant guidelines. NHSRCL has also been directed to intimate the actual date on which Pervez assumes charge.

Pervez Has Been Associated With NHSRCL Since Its Inception
Anjum Pervez has been associated with NHSRCL since its inception on December 6, 2016. During his tenure, he has been involved in the planning, development and execution of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor (MAHSR).
The MAHSR project, popularly known as India’s bullet train project, is the country’s first high-speed rail corridor.
As Director (Projects), Pervez has been closely associated with project-related activities and the development of infrastructure required for the high-speed rail corridor.
Extensive Experience in Indian Railways
Before joining NHSRCL, Pervez held several responsibilities in Indian Railways, gaining experience across various areas of railway development.
His professional experience includes work related to:
- Track modernisation
- Railway planning
- Commissioning of new railway projects
- Development and execution of railway infrastructure
His experience across Indian Railways and NHSRCL brings a combination of railway-sector expertise and specialised experience in high-speed rail project development.
Leadership Comes as Bullet Train Project Progresses
Pervez’s elevation to the top executive position comes as NHSRCL continues its work on India’s first high-speed rail corridor and associated supporting infrastructure.
The Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor involves the development of a dedicated high-speed railway system between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, along with the infrastructure and facilities required for its operation.
His appointment as regular Managing Director will place him at the helm of NHSRCL as the corporation continues to undertake major activities related to the country’s high-speed rail programme.
