New Delhi: The Railway Board has entrusted the additional charge of the post of Director (Works) at National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) to Alok Katiyar, who currently serves as Director (Electrical & Systems) at the organisation.

The order was issued on August 10, 2026, and the additional responsibility will come into effect from the date Katiyar assumes charge, on or after September 1, 2026.

The post of Director (Works) will fall vacant on September 1, 2026, following the superannuation of Pramod Sharma, whose date of birth is August 2, 1966.

Alok Katiyar to Hold Additional Charge of Director (Works)

Katiyar will take on the additional responsibility alongside his existing duties as Director (Electrical & Systems) at NHSRCL.

The arrangement will remain effective until the appointment of a regular incumbent or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Director (Works) Role Gains Importance

The additional responsibility comes at a significant time for NHSRCL as the organisation continues to work on India’s high-speed rail infrastructure programme.

As Director (Works), Katiyar will handle responsibilities related to works and infrastructure activities within NHSRCL, while continuing to oversee his existing Electrical & Systems portfolio.

The arrangement will require coordination across different project and infrastructure-related functions.

Katiyar Already Handles Electrical and Systems Portfolio

As Director (Electrical & Systems), Katiyar is associated with a critical technical area of high-speed rail development.

His existing responsibilities cover electrical and systems-related aspects that are important for the design, integration and functioning of high-speed railway infrastructure.

With the additional charge of Director (Works), his responsibilities will now extend to works-related activities and project execution within NHSRCL.

Additional Charge Ensures Continuity

The decision to assign the additional charge to Katiyar will ensure continuity in the senior management structure of NHSRCL after the Director (Works) post becomes vacant.

The officer will continue to perform his existing responsibilities as Director (Electrical & Systems) while also managing the functions associated with Director (Works).

Such an arrangement enables important senior-level responsibilities to continue without interruption during the transition period or until a regular appointment is made.

Railway Board Order Details

The Ministry of Railways has decided that Alok Katiyar will look after the additional charge of Director (Works), NHSRCL, from the date he assumes charge on or after September 1, 2026.

The arrangement will continue until a regular incumbent is appointed or further orders are issued, whichever is earlier.

NHSRCL has been directed to communicate the actual date of assumption of charge to the Railway Board.
