Western Coalfields’ Anup Hanjura Recommended as Next Director (Technical) of Central Coalfields Limited

New Delhi: The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has recommended Anup Hanjura for the post of Director (Technical) at Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), a PSU under the Ministry of Coal. This decision was made during the PESB selection panel meeting held on September 26.

Background and Selection Process

Anup Hanjura, currently serving as Area General Manager (Pench & Kanhan Area) at Western Coalfields Limited (WCL), was chosen from a competitive list of 12 candidates. The shortlist included professionals from various key coal and power sector PSUs, including two candidates from NLC India Limited, two from Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), and others from Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC), Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL), Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), NTPC Limited, Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS), and Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) itself.

Role and Responsibilities as Director (Technical)

As Director (Technical) of CCL, Anup Hanjura will be a member of the Board of Directors and will report directly to the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of the company. His key responsibilities will include overseeing the operation of mines, managing field activities, handling technical functions, and ensuring the safety standards of the mines under CCL.

Central Coalfields Limited is a prominent PSU engaged in coal mining operations in India. It plays a vital role in supplying coal for power generation and other industrial purposes. The role of Director (Technical) is critical for ensuring operational efficiency and safety in the company’s extensive mining activities.

CCL, a subsidiary of Coal India Limited, continues its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by addressing critical health issues in its operational areas. CCL was established in 1956 as National Coal Development Corporation Limited and is a Category-I Mini Ratna company since October 2007. CCL manages the nationalized coal mines of the Coal Mines Authority, Central division. CCL is headquartered at Darbhanga House, Ranchi, Jharkhand.
