The Competent Authority has approved the premature repatriation of senior railway officer B. Kasiviswanathan from the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways to his parent cadre, enabling him to avail the benefits of promotion in the Indian Railways.

The approval comes following a proposal submitted by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways and cleared by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC).

Return to Parent Cadre Approved

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), B. Kasiviswanathan, an Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME) officer of the 1992 batch, will be repatriated before completion of his deputation tenure.

At the time of repatriation, he was serving as Chairperson at the Joint Secretary level in a Port Authority under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.

Promotion Opportunity Drives Move

The order specifies that the premature repatriation has been approved to allow the officer to avail promotion benefits in his parent cadre.

Such repatriations are occasionally approved when officers become eligible for higher responsibilities or promotions in their respective services during deputation assignments.

Experienced Officer in Maritime Administration

Kasiviswanathan has been serving in a senior leadership role within the maritime sector, overseeing important administrative and operational functions under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.

His return to the Indian Railways is expected to facilitate his progression to higher positions within the railway administrative hierarchy.

ACC Clears Proposal

The decision was taken following consideration of a proposal forwarded by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.

Premature repatriation of officers on central deputation generally requires approval of the competent authority, particularly in cases involving senior-level appointments.

The move highlights the government’s effort to balance organizational requirements with career progression opportunities available to officers in their parent services.
