Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh government has prepared a development plan involving more than ₹400 crore for Balaghat district, with proposed works covering roads, healthcare, drinking water, electricity, nutrition and other basic facilities.
The plan is scheduled to be presented before Union Home Minister Amit Shah during his visit to Bhopal, with Chief Minister Mohan Yadav set to outline the proposed works. The state government has proposed completing the identified works over the next year.
1,500 Works Planned Across Five Blocks
The proposed works will cover five blocks of Balaghat district — Paraswada, Baihar, Lanji, Birsa and Kirnapur.

According to the report, around 1,500 works have been identified across 13 departments. Former Chief Secretary Ashok Varnwal has approved the works, while Principal Secretary of the Tribal Affairs Department Gulshan Bamra will coordinate among the departments involved.
Road construction accounts for the largest share of the proposed expenditure. Around 151 roads are planned, with an estimated expenditure of ₹268 crore.
Healthcare and Ration Infrastructure Included
The plan also includes more than 20 Ayushman Arogya Kendras across the district’s blocks. Construction of buildings for community and health centres has also been proposed, with ₹3.11 crore earmarked for these works.
To strengthen the public distribution infrastructure, the government plans to construct ration shops and warehouses at a proposed cost of ₹6.87 crore.
The plan also includes works under tap-water schemes in the five blocks. At locations where water supply is currently unavailable, the government has proposed alternative arrangements for providing drinking water.
The development plan is expected to be presented before Amit Shah as part of the state government’s proposed works for Balaghat district.
