New Delhi: Dr P M Saravanan, an Indian Postal Service (Indian Postal Service) officer of the 2000 batch, has assumed charge as Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of Bharat Electronics Limited with effect from May 14, 2026.
The appointment follows the repatriation of the previous CVO, Kalyani Sethuraman. Dr Saravanan has joined BEL on deputation for a tenure of three years.
Extensive Experience in Technology and Digital Operations
Before joining BEL, Dr Saravanan served as General Manager at the Centre for Excellence in Postal Technology in Bengaluru.
During his tenure, he managed several major IT initiatives for the Department of Posts, contributing significantly to digital transformation projects.
He also worked for five years at the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) Technology Centre in Bengaluru, where he handled:
- Data centre operations
- IT infrastructure management
- Mission-critical systems administration
His experience spans large-scale technology operations and government digital systems.

Leadership Roles in Postal Department Across Regions
Dr Saravanan has held multiple key administrative positions in the Department of Posts, including:
- Postal Divisional Head in Nellore, Vijayawada, and Hyderabad
- Regional Director, Southern Region (Tamil Nadu)
- Regional Director, South Karnataka Region
- Director (Headquarters), Bengaluru
He has also briefly served as Regional Head for South Karnataka, managing regional postal operations and administrative functions.
Strengthening Vigilance Function in BEL
As Chief Vigilance Officer, Dr Saravanan will oversee vigilance administration, compliance, and internal governance mechanisms within BEL.
His appointment is expected to strengthen transparency and operational integrity in the organisation.
