BEL, Astra Microwave Products Sign MoU to Develop Indigenous EW, Radar and Satellite Systems

New Delhi: Navratna defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has entered into a strategic partnership with Astra Microwave Products Limited (AMPL) to jointly develop and manufacture advanced defence and aerospace electronic systems. The collaboration aims to boost indigenous design and production capabilities in critical technology areas such as Electronic Warfare (EW), radar systems, and satellite-based applications.

Focus on Advanced Defence Technologies

Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), BEL and AMPL will collaborate on the design, development, and manufacturing of advanced electronic modules, subsystems, and complete systems. The partnership is aligned with India’s vision of self-reliance in defence manufacturing and seeks to reduce dependence on imports in high-end electronic technologies essential for national security.

Strengthening Indigenous Design & Manufacturing

The collaboration leverages BEL’s extensive experience in defence electronics and system integration along with AMPL’s global expertise in Electronic System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM). Together, the two companies aim to develop cutting-edge solutions for EW systems, radars, and satellite technologies, catering to the requirements of the Indian Armed Forces and other strategic users.

MoU Exchange Ceremony

The MoU was exchanged between Mr. Suresh Kumar KV, Director (Marketing), BEL, and Dr. M.V. Reddy, Joint Managing Director, AMPL, in the presence of Mr. Manoj Jain, Chairman & Managing Director, BEL, Mr. B.M. Chandrakanth, Vice President, AMPL, and Ms. Niti Pandit, General Manager (Strategic Planning), BEL. Senior officials from both organisations were present during the signing, underscoring the importance of the partnership.

Advancing Atmanirbhar Bharat

This strategic alliance is expected to accelerate technology development, promote knowledge sharing, and create a robust ecosystem for advanced defence electronics manufacturing in India. The partnership also supports the government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative by fostering collaboration between public sector enterprises and private industry leaders.
