BEL Partners with BMIT to Develop Advanced Defence Electronics, Radar and Drone Technologies

MoU aims to boost indigenous defence manufacturing, strengthen electronic warfare systems, and accelerate India’s self-reliance in aerospace and strategic technologies

New Delhi: Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bit Mapper Integration Technologies Pvt Ltd (BMIT) to jointly develop advanced electronic systems for defence and aerospace applications. The agreement was signed in Bengaluru on April 21, 2026, marking a significant step towards strengthening India’s self-reliance in critical defence technologies.

Focus on Advanced Defence Systems and Technologies

The collaboration will focus on the design, development, and manufacturing of advanced electronic modules and systems. Key technology areas under this partnership include:

  • Electronic Warfare (EW) systems
  • Naval radar systems
  • Drone and unmanned technologies
  • Advanced electronic modules and subsystems

The initiative aims to enhance indigenous capabilities in high-end defence electronics and support India’s growing requirements in strategic sectors.

MoU Signed in Presence of Senior Leadership

The MoU was formally exchanged between Manoj Jain, Chairman and Managing Director of BEL, and Amit Mahajan. The signing ceremony was attended by senior officials from both organisations, including Vivek Joshi (Vice President, Airborne Solutions, BMIT), Mahesh Pore (Business Development Manager, BMIT), and Ruchi Pant (General Manager, Strategic Planning, BEL).

Strengthening India’s Defence Self-Reliance

BEL, a Navratna defence PSU under the Ministry of Defence, is a leading player in defence and strategic electronics with a portfolio of over 600 products, including radars, communication systems, avionics, electronic warfare systems, and homeland security solutions.

This collaboration with BMIT is expected to accelerate innovation, enhance domestic manufacturing capabilities, and support India’s broader goal of achieving self-reliance in critical defence technologies.

Boost to Aerospace and High-Tech Manufacturing

The partnership is also expected to significantly advance aerospace electronics and defence manufacturing ecosystems in India. By combining expertise, both companies aim to develop next-generation technologies that will strengthen mission-critical capabilities for future defence needs.
