Bhadohi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath highlighted the contribution of Bhadohi’s handmade carpet industry to the state’s export economy while inaugurating the golden jubilee edition of the India Carpet Expo at Carpet Expo Mart in Bhadohi on Sunday.
The Chief Minister said Uttar Pradesh’s exports had increased by nearly 2.27 times over the past decade and crossed ₹2 lakh crore, making the state the country’s fifth-largest exporting state. He specifically credited Bhadohi’s carpet industry with making a significant contribution to the state’s exports.
Bhadohi Carpets Linked to Global Markets
In remarks shared on X ahead of the event, Adityanath said, “The talent of Bhadohi once had to find its own way, but today the government is opening new doors of development, markets and opportunities for it.”

He said the traditional craftsmanship of Bhadohi was increasingly being connected with wider markets and development opportunities. The Chief Minister also highlighted the role of artisans and the handmade carpet sector in giving Uttar Pradesh a presence in international markets.
50th India Carpet Expo Brings Global Buyers
The 50th India Carpet Expo, organised by the Carpet Export Promotion Council (CEPC), is being held from October 4 to 7 at Carpet Expo Mart, Bhadohi. The event focuses on handmade carpets, rugs and other floor coverings and connects Indian exporters with overseas buyers.
The golden-jubilee edition is expected to bring together Indian manufacturers and exporters with international buyers, importers, retailers, designers and sourcing professionals. The expo is being positioned as a platform to strengthen the global market for India’s handmade carpet sector.
112 Development Projects Worth Over ₹1,340 Crore
During his Bhadohi visit, Adityanath also inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 112 development projects worth more than ₹1,340 crore covering the Bhadohi, Aurai and Gyanpur assembly constituencies, according to the Uttar Pradesh government.
The Chief Minister also interacted with people associated with the carpet industry, including exporters, sellers and entrepreneurs.
