Bhadohi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is scheduled to inaugurate the 50th edition of the four-day India Carpet Expo at Carpet City in Bhadohi on Sunday. During the visit, he will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for 112 development projects worth more than ₹1,340 crore across the Bhadohi, Aurai and Gyanpur assembly constituencies.
The Chief Minister is scheduled to inaugurate the expo at around 1:45 pm, followed by a public address. He will also interact with exporters, sellers and entrepreneurs associated with the carpet industry.
430 Foreign Buyers Expected
The expo is expected to draw around 430 international buyers from 65 countries, while 223 Indian exporters have set up stalls at the event.

The largest contingent of foreign buyers is expected from the United States, with around 40 buyers. Participants are also expected from Australia, Canada, Brazil, France, Germany, Japan, Russia and the UAE, among other countries.
The Carpet Export Promotion Council (CEPC) Chairman Captain Mukesh Kumar Gomber said 106 buyers from BRICS countries are also expected to attend the expo.
₹1,340 Crore Development Projects
During his visit, Adityanath will inaugurate or lay the foundation stones for 112 projects costing more than ₹1,340 crore in the three assembly constituencies of Bhadohi, Aurai and Gyanpur.
Beneficiaries of various government schemes will also receive benefits during the programme.
Focus on Bhadohi’s Carpet Industry
Ahead of the event, Adityanath said on social media that Bhadohi’s carpet industry has become an important part of Uttar Pradesh’s exports.
He said the state’s exports have increased by around 2.27 times over the past decade to more than ₹2 lakh crore, and described Uttar Pradesh as the country’s fifth-largest exporting state.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the contribution of Bhadohi’s handmade carpets to the state’s export sector and said the government was focusing on connecting the traditional industry with development, markets and opportunities.
Union Minister to Visit on October 5
Union Textiles Minister Girish Singh is scheduled to visit the expo on October 5, according to CEPC Chairman Gomber.
The expo will feature carpets using natural colours as well as products with contemporary designs. The source also noted the relevance of free-trade agreements with the UK, New Zealand and Australia, along with a possible agreement with the European Union, for the carpet export sector.
