Moradabad: The Uttar Pradesh government is preparing to relaunch and sell properties worth around ₹30,000 crore that have remained unsold across development authorities in the state, according to a report by Dainik Jagran. The plan includes properties held by the Moradabad Development Authority (MDA), estimated at around ₹1,000 crore.
The unsold properties include residential and commercial plots, flats, houses and shops in various housing schemes. The government plans to improve the condition and presentation of these properties before putting them up for sale again.
MDA Has Unsold Properties Across Several Schemes
The MDA has properties awaiting sale in schemes including Sitapuri-Das Sarai, Amrit Kunj, Udyam Vihar and Aravali in the Dhakka area, besides properties under the PMAY-related scheme.

These include residential plots as well as plots reserved for schools. The report said only around 60 to 70 houses were sold across various MDA schemes during the past year.
The government plans to follow a similar approach for unsold properties held by 28 development authorities across Uttar Pradesh.
Properties to Be Improved Before Relaunch
Under the proposed plan, properties that require work may undergo repairs, painting and improvements to their external appearance. Electricity and water facilities may also be improved where required, while surrounding areas may be beautified.
For vacant plots, existing facilities such as roads, lighting and parks will be improved or presented more effectively. The state government will provide funds for the proposed improvement work, after which development authorities will offer the properties for sale at prevailing rates.
Earlier Attempts to Increase Sales
The MDA had previously invited tenders to engage an agency for selling the properties, but the report said no agency submitted a proposal.
A subsequent proposal involved reducing the original prices by 15 to 20 per cent, but only a limited number of houses were sold.
MDA Vice Chairman Anubhav Singh said the authority would prepare presentations of the properties available for sale and undertake improvements wherever required. He said the authority would work on relaunching the properties in accordance with the government’s plan.
