CM Bhagwant Mann Inaugurates 2 New Schools of Eminence in Ludhiana with Smart Classrooms and Modern Labs 

New campuses feature smart classrooms, science labs, a 500-seat auditorium and modern infrastructure as Punjab strengthens government education; CM says the state now ranks first in primary and middle school education.

Ludhiana: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Monday dedicated two new Schools of Eminence in Kidwai Nagar and Miller Ganj in Ludhiana, taking the total number of Schools of Eminence in the district to 16.

Equipped with modern classrooms, advanced science laboratories, a 500-seat auditorium, smart learning facilities, and upgraded infrastructure, the new schools are part of the Punjab government’s mission to strengthen public education and provide world-class learning opportunities for every child.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said Ludhiana, long known as Punjab’s industrial capital, is now emerging as the state’s leading district in the field of education.

Kidwai Nagar School Built at ₹10.62 Crore

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said the Kidwai Nagar School of Eminence has been developed at a cost of ₹10.62 crore on a campus spread across more than 8,300 square yards.

The school features:

  • 27 modern classrooms.
  • Seven advanced science laboratories.
  • A well-equipped library.
  • A 500-seat auditorium.
  • Principal’s office.
  • Nine toilets.
  • Modern academic infrastructure for quality learning.

The facility has been designed to offer students a world-class educational environment comparable to leading private institutions.

Miller Ganj School Developed at ₹3.48 Crore

The Miller Ganj School of Eminence has been constructed at a cost of ₹3.48 crore with modern educational infrastructure.

Facilities include:

  • 11 classrooms.
  • Seven science laboratories.
  • Six toilets.
  • Principal’s office.
  • Lift facility for students and staff.
  • Modern learning infrastructure.

The government said the school has been equipped with all essential facilities to provide students with a comfortable and advanced learning experience.

Ludhiana Emerging as Punjab’s Education Hub

Highlighting the district’s educational transformation, the Chief Minister said Ludhiana has become a model for government education reforms.

Current education infrastructure in Ludhiana includes:

  • 16 Schools of Eminence.
  • 11 Schools of Brilliance.
  • 35 Schools of Happiness.
  • Infrastructure upgraded in nearly 200 government schools.
  • Around 3 lakh students enrolled in government schools.

According to Mann, Ludhiana is no longer known only for its industrial growth but is also becoming a centre of educational excellence in Punjab.

Students Shifting from Private to Government Schools

The Chief Minister claimed that the quality of education in government schools has improved significantly, leading to a growing number of students leaving private schools for public institutions.

Factors driving higher enrolment include:

  • Smart classrooms.
  • Modern furniture.
  • World-class science laboratories.
  • Digitally enabled learning.
  • Teachers trained in international teaching practices.
  • Improved academic environment.

He said these improvements have strengthened public confidence in Punjab’s government school system.

Punjab Climbs from 27th to 1st in School Education

Bhagwant Singh Mann said Punjab has achieved remarkable progress in school education over the past four years.

According to the Chief Minister:

  • Punjab ranked 27th in school education when the current government assumed office.
  • The state has now reached 1st position after continuous reforms.
  • NITI Aayog’s latest data shows Punjab leading the country in primary and middle school education, ahead of Kerala, Maharashtra, and Delhi.

He attributed this achievement to sustained investments in:

  • Teacher training.
  • Smart classrooms.
  • Modern teaching methods.
  • Strengthening primary and middle school education.

Government School Students Excel in NEET and JEE

The Chief Minister highlighted the remarkable improvement in competitive examination results.

Key achievements include:

  • Government school students qualifying NEET increased from 80 in 2021 to 881 in 2026.
  • More than 125 students cleared JEE Main.
  • 155 students from Ludhiana qualified in NEET and JEE examinations.
  • 47 Ludhiana students cleared the Punjab State Talent Search Examination.

Mann described the rise in NEET qualifiers as the biggest achievement in the history of Punjab’s government schools.


Strong Performance in Sports and Student Development

The Chief Minister also highlighted achievements beyond academics.

In the past year:

  • 201 students from Ludhiana represented the district in national-level sports competitions.
  • Students won 25 medals, including seven gold medals.

He said the government’s focus is on the overall development of students through academics, sports, and extracurricular activities.

Free Bus Service and Parent Participation

The Punjab government has also expanded student welfare initiatives.

Major initiatives include:

  • Free bus transportation for students of around 20,000 government schools.
  • Nearly 12,000 girl students benefiting from the transport facility.
  • Parent-Teacher Meetings conducted with participation from nearly 24 lakh parents across the state.

These initiatives aim to improve school accessibility and strengthen parent-school engagement.

Chief Minister Interacts with Students

During the event, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann visited classrooms, science laboratories, and the library at the newly inaugurated schools.

He interacted with students to learn about their studies and future aspirations.

Several students presented handmade sketches and paintings to the Chief Minister, while others requested autographs. Parents also appreciated the transformation in Punjab’s government schools and welcomed the state’s education reforms.

Punjab Aims to Build an Educated and Drug-Free Society

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the government’s vision extends beyond constructing new school buildings.

He said Punjab aims to build a healthy, educated, and drug-free society, where every child has access to quality education regardless of financial background.

According to Mann, education remains the most powerful tool for eliminating poverty and social challenges, and the government will continue investing in educational infrastructure and reforms to secure a brighter future for the state’s children.
