Lucknow: The Chief Minister Bal Seva Yojana launched under the leadership of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has emerged as a major support system for orphaned and vulnerable children across the state. Designed to protect children who lost their parents or guardians due to the COVID-19 pandemic or other unfortunate circumstances, the scheme ensures that financial hardship does not become a barrier to education and a secure future.

Today, the welfare initiative is benefiting more than 1.09 lakh children in Uttar Pradesh, helping them access education, healthcare, nutrition, and financial assistance while offering them the opportunity to lead a dignified life.

Financial Support for Higher Education Until the Age of 23

One of the key highlights of the Chief Minister Bal Seva Yojana is its continued support for students pursuing higher education after Class 12.

Under the scheme:

  • Students who have lost both parents or either parent and are enrolled in a graduate degree or diploma course are eligible for financial assistance.
  • Beneficiaries between 18 and 23 years of age receive ₹2,500 per month through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
  • The assistance continues until the student reaches 23 years of age or completes the course, whichever comes first.

This monthly support helps students meet expenses related to tuition fees, books, study materials, and daily educational needs without depending on others.

Comprehensive Support Beyond School Education

Unlike many welfare schemes that focus only on school education, the Chief Minister Bal Seva Yojana provides a complete support system from childhood through higher education.

The initiative ensures that children affected by family tragedies receive continuous assistance throughout their academic journey. By extending financial support beyond Class 12, the government aims to improve higher education participation among vulnerable youth and help them build independent careers.

Over 1.09 Lakh Children Benefiting Across Uttar Pradesh

The impact of the scheme has expanded significantly over the years.

Currently, more than 1.09 lakh children are receiving benefits under the Chief Minister Bal Seva Yojana, reflecting the government’s commitment to transparent and effective implementation.

Regular financial assistance has enabled beneficiaries to:

  • Continue their education without interruption.
  • Access better nutrition and healthcare.
  • Meet essential living expenses.
  • Reduce the financial burden on guardians and relatives caring for orphaned children.

The growing number of beneficiaries demonstrates the wide reach and effectiveness of the welfare initiative.

Helping Families and Guardians

Apart from supporting children directly, the scheme also provides relief to relatives and guardians who have taken responsibility for raising orphaned children.

The monthly financial assistance helps cover educational and day-to-day expenses, allowing caregivers to provide better living conditions without facing excessive financial pressure.

A Welfare Initiative Focused on Child Protection

The Chief Minister Bal Seva Yojana reflects the Uttar Pradesh government’s focus on ensuring that no child is left behind due to personal tragedy or financial hardship.

By acting as a support system for children who have lost parental care, the scheme promotes equal educational opportunities, social security, and long-term development. The initiative also reinforces the government’s commitment to creating a safe and inclusive environment where vulnerable children can pursue their dreams with confidence.

Strengthening the Future of Vulnerable Children

The Chief Minister Bal Seva Yojana has become a lifeline for thousands of orphaned and vulnerable children in Uttar Pradesh. By combining financial assistance with educational support and social protection, the scheme is helping beneficiaries pursue higher education, become self-reliant, and build a brighter future.

With continued implementation and expanding coverage, the initiative stands as an important example of child-focused governance aimed at securing the future of the state’s most vulnerable children.
