Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh government has partially modified the earlier transfer and posting orders of three senior Himachal Pradesh Police Service (HPPS) officers, issuing fresh assignments in the interest of administration.

The revised orders were issued on Friday by Chief Secretary Kamlesh Kumar Pant and partially modify the transfer orders issued earlier on August 10, 2026.

Under the revised arrangement, Sanjeev Kumar-II (HPPS 2010), Santosh Kumar Sharma (HPPS 2011) and Ajay Thakur (HPPS 2017) have been given new postings.

The revised orders will take immediate effect.

Sanjeev Kumar-II Posted as ASP, Baddi

Sanjeev Kumar-II, an HPPS officer of the 2010 batch, was serving as Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), District Una.

He had earlier been ordered to move to the State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (SV&ACB), Chamba.

The government has now partially modified that order and posted him as ASP, Baddi, Police District Baddi.

The revised assignment shifts the senior officer from the earlier proposed SV&ACB posting in Chamba to a key police district-level position in Baddi.

Santosh Kumar Sharma Adjusted as ASP, Leave Reserve

Santosh Kumar Sharma (HPPS 2011) is another officer whose earlier transfer order has been modified.

Sharma was formerly serving as Commandant, Home Guards, Solan and had been placed under orders of transfer to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Shimla.

Under the revised orders, he has now been adjusted as ASP (Leave Reserve), District Solan.

The change therefore keeps Sharma within the Solan district police establishment in the revised arrangement rather than moving him to CID, Shimla as originally ordered.

Ajay Thakur Posted to 5th IRBn, Bassi

Ajay Thakur, an HPPS officer of the 2017 batch, was formerly posted as Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Headquarters, Una.

His earlier transfer order had directed him to move to SV&ACB Headquarters, Shimla.

The government has now modified that posting and assigned him as DSP, 5th Indian Reserve Battalion (IRBn), Bassi, District Bilaspur.

His revised posting takes him from the Una headquarters assignment to the 5th IRBn at Bassi.

Revised Orders Take Immediate Effect

The latest government orders have been issued as partial modifications of the transfer and posting orders dated August 10, 2026.

The changes affect all three officers and specify their revised places of posting.

The government has stated that the orders have been issued in public interest.

With the revised orders taking immediate effect, the three officers are expected to assume their new responsibilities as per the directions of the state government.

Full Revised Posting Details

  • Sanjeev Kumar-II (HPPS 2010): Formerly ASP, District Una; earlier transferred to SV&ACB, Chamba; now posted as ASP, Baddi, Police District Baddi.
  • Santosh Kumar Sharma (HPPS 2011): Formerly Commandant, Home Guards, Solan; earlier ordered for transfer to CID, Shimla; now adjusted as ASP (Leave Reserve), District Solan.
  • Ajay Thakur (HPPS 2017): Formerly DSP, Headquarters, Una; earlier ordered for transfer to SV&ACB Headquarters, Shimla; now posted as DSP, 5th IRBn, Bassi, District Bilaspur.

CM Sukhu Reviews HPNLU Infrastructure

Meanwhile, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has committed state government assistance for upgrading and expanding infrastructure at the Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla.

The Chief Minister said the state government would assist in augmenting and strengthening the university’s existing infrastructure with the objective of improving facilities for students and ensuring quality education.

Sukhu made the remarks while reviewing various issues concerning the university late Thursday evening.

Focus on Better Student Facilities and Quality Education

During the review, the Chief Minister emphasised the state government’s commitment to further strengthening HPNLU’s infrastructure.

The proposed support is aimed at improving the university’s existing facilities and creating an environment conducive to quality education for students.

The Chief Minister said the government would extend assistance for infrastructure augmentation so that the institution can further improve its educational standards and student facilities.

HPNLU Asked to Generate Its Own Resources

Along with government support, Sukhu also stressed the importance of the university generating its own resources.

The emphasis on resource generation comes as the state government looks at strengthening the institution’s infrastructure while also encouraging greater financial sustainability.

The Chief Minister’s review therefore covered both infrastructure augmentation and the need for the university to develop its own resource base.

Administrative and Institutional Developments in Himachal

The two developments come as the Himachal Pradesh government undertakes administrative decisions across its police and institutional sectors.

On the policing side, the revised orders have altered the proposed postings of three HPPS officers, with assignments now made in Baddi, Solan and Bilaspur.

At the higher-education level, the Chief Minister has reiterated the state’s commitment to strengthening HPNLU Shimla, while also asking the university to focus on generating its own resources.

The revised police postings are effective immediately, while the infrastructure-related measures for HPNLU are part of the state government’s ongoing review of the university’s requirements.
