Bharuch: Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi on August 17 handed appointment letters to 526 women who secured employment through Project Asmita, an initiative of Bharuch Police aimed at supporting women’s safety, dignity and financial independence.

The recruitment drive involved 13 companies, with women from the local area being offered employment opportunities. According to the government, candidates with general and higher educational qualifications are being offered starting salaries of more than ₹17,000.

Sanghavi Praises Bharuch Police’s Wider Role

Sanghavi said the initiative reflects the Bharuch Police’s efforts beyond conventional law-and-order responsibilities.

“Bharuch Police is not only ensuring security but also playing an important role in the economic and social upliftment of the people.”

₹482 Crore Development Projects Unveiled

The event also marked the inauguration and foundation-laying of projects worth a combined ₹482 crore in and around Ankleshwar GIDC.

Key infrastructure and industrial facilities highlighted at the event include:

  • Transport Nagar with parking capacity for more than 510 trucks.
  • A 3,000-square-metre warehouse.
  • Around 144 new industrial sheds for MSME units.
  • A 40 million-litre-per-day water supply project at Bulk Drug Park, Jambusar.
  • Around 1,895 streetlights across industrial estates.

The development of Transport Nagar at Ankleshwar is also part of Gujarat’s efforts to strengthen logistics infrastructure in the industrial ecosystem. The state’s LEADS 2025 report identifies the facility as a logistics hub intended to support diversified cargo.

Police Return Recovered Property to Owner

The event also highlighted Bharuch Police’s property-recovery efforts. Authorities said a theft involving property worth more than ₹3.16 crore at G.F.L. Company in the Dahej Police Station area was solved within hours.

Under the ‘Tera Tujhko Arpan’ initiative, the recovered valuables were returned to the rightful owner through a cheque. Certificates were also presented to Bharuch Police in recognition of its work under the programme.

Focus on Industrial Growth

Sanghavi highlighted Bharuch’s role in Gujarat’s manufacturing and industrial economy and pointed to the district’s connectivity through the Dedicated Freight Corridor, ports and high-speed rail project.

He also urged industrialists to make use of incentives under Gujarat’s industrial and innovation policies, particularly for research and development and patent registration.

The Deputy Chief Minister further emphasised the importance of manufacturing world-class products and said Gujarat was working towards its wider development goals alongside the national Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.
