Leadership Updates: BHAVINI Appoints B. Anoop as Director (Technical) to Lead Fast Breeder Reactor Projects

New Delhi: Mr. B. Anoop, a senior Scientific Officer/H from the Reactor Design Group at the Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), has been appointed as the new Director (Technical) of Bharatiya Nabhikiya Vidyut Nigam Limited (BHAVINI) by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC). The Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) has been formally informed, and Mr. Anoop will assume charge after completing the required formalities.

Experienced Nuclear Scientist Takes on Key Role

Mr. Anoop brings a wealth of technical expertise to BHAVINI, having served in critical roles at IGCAR where he contributed to reactor design and development of advanced nuclear technologies. His appointment is expected to provide strategic guidance to BHAVINI’s projects, ensuring adherence to global safety standards while accelerating India’s nuclear energy advancements.

Strengthening BHAVINI’s Technical Leadership

His leadership is anticipated to strengthen the organization’s engineering capabilities, project management efficiency, and overall contribution to India’s nuclear energy program.

This appointment aligns with the government’s broader objective of bolstering technical leadership in public sector undertakings in the nuclear sector to ensure energy security, sustainable development, and technological self-reliance.

Focus on India’s Fast Breeder Reactor Programme

BHAVINI plays a pivotal role in India’s nuclear energy strategy, particularly through its work on fast breeder reactors. These reactors are designed to utilize uranium and plutonium efficiently, supporting long-term energy sustainability while reducing nuclear waste. Mr. Anoop’s expertise in reactor design is expected to enhance the technical oversight and innovation in ongoing and upcoming projects, reinforcing India’s position as a leader in advanced nuclear technology.
