Motihari: In preparation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s high-profile visit to East Champaran on July 14, a massive security operation has been launched, involving 5 IPS officers and over 7,000 Bihar Police personnel, in addition to 12 companies of paramilitary forces. The deployment reflects the highest levels of security readiness in recent times for a political event in the region.
As per police sources, the security detail includes 5,500 police personnel, 2,500 officers, and specialized units comprising 55 Deputy Superintendents of Police, 139 Inspectors, 1,000 Sub-Inspectors and Jamadars, along with dog squads, bomb squads, metal detectors, and surveillance teams.
Temporary Police Station Set Up; SPG to Take Over Gandhi Maidan
A temporary police station has been established inside Gandhi Maidan, which will be handed over to the Special Protection Group (SPG) on the day of the PM’s visit. The station is operational 24/7 under Deputy Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Kumar and is overseeing coordinated security and patrolling operations.
Senior officials, including District Magistrate Saurabh Jorwal and Superintendent of Police Swarn Prabhat, are personally monitoring the preparations. They conducted inspections of high-risk areas including the helipad, Motihari Police Center, Kachhari Chowk, and other key junctions around the rally venue.
Senior-Level Deployment and Tactical Forces
The deployment includes-
- 5 IPS officers
- 55 Deputy Superintendents of Police
- 139 Police Inspectors
- 1,000 Sub-Inspectors and Jamadars
Specialized units such as 150 manpeg teams, 200 hand-held detectors, five dog squads, and five bomb disposal squads are also being mobilized.
In addition, 188 Door Frame Metal Detectors (DFMDs) and five vehicle-checking machines are being deployed to secure all access points. The entire Gandhi Maidan area will be officially handed over to the Special Protection Group (SPG) on July 14.
Enhanced Screening and Patrol Operations
Key security features include-

- 5 dog squads and 5 bomb squads
All entrants to the venue will undergo thorough checks, and every individual – including workers, officials, and police personnel – must carry and display valid identification. Their entry details are being documented with signatures for verification.
Event Preparations and Crowd Management
Tent construction is progressing rapidly at Gandhi Maidan to prepare for the public rally. Authorities have also directed intensified foot patrolling in all four directions of the venue, and continuous surveillance is being maintained at surrounding locations.
The event is expected to draw a massive crowd, and police are tasked with ensuring not just event security, but also traffic regulation, crowd control, and emergency response readiness.
Round-the-Clock Vigil and Patrolling
Authorities have directed that all workers, labourers, police personnel, and officials entering the venue must be identified and their details recorded, including signatures. All deployed personnel must wear proper identification badges while on duty.
