Bihar Govt Transfers 4 IAS, 1 IFS Officer Ahead of Elections; Jitendra Gupta Posted as Joint Secy, Finance; New Mines Inspectors Assigned in 37 Districts

Patna: In a significant administrative reshuffle ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, the Nitish Kumar-led government has transferred and posted four IAS officers and reassigned duties to a total of five All India Services (AIS) officers. Additionally, the Mines and Geology Department has issued new postings for Mines Inspectors in 37 districts, reshuffling field-level officers to boost monitoring and resource management.

Key IAS Officer Transfers and Postings

As per the notifications issued by the General Administration Department on Monday, the following changes have been made

Kanwal Tanuj (IAS: 2010: BH)
Transferred from Secretary, Minor Water Resources Department to Secretary, Planning & Development Department.

Dr. Jitendra Gupta (IAS: 2013: BH)
Moved from Joint Secretary, Bihar State Planning Board to Joint Secretary, Finance Department.

Krishna Chandra Gupta (IAS: 2025: BH)
Appointed as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the Home Department. He was previously undergoing training at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie.

Nishant Sihara (IAS: 2022: BH)
An officer awaiting posting, Sihra has now been appointed as OSD in the General Administration Department (GAD).

Transfer of Indian Forest Service Officer

Alok Kumar (IFS) – Special Secretary, Labor Resources Department, has been transferred to the Department of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change. His new posting will be effective from the date of his resignation from the Labor Department.

Mines Inspectors Reshuffled in 37 Districts

In a parallel development, the Mines and Geology Department has reassigned Mines Inspectors across 37 districts of the state. The department has directed all affected officers to report to their new postings within a week. This move is seen as part of the state’s intensified efforts to streamline mineral resource monitoring and plug regulatory gaps at the district level.

  • Abhilasha Gupta – Transferred from Saharsa to Nalanda
  • Naveen Kumar and Pranav Suman – Appointed in Gaya
  • Sapna Kumari – Appointed in Khagaria
  • Chandan Kumar Azad – Appointed in Begusarai
  • Mohammad Arman – Appointed in Munger
  • Chandan Kumar – Appointed in Vaishali
  • Prakash Kumar – Appointed in Buxar
  • Suryamani Bhai Patel – Appointed in Jehanabad
  • Meenakshi Gupta and Aditya Raj – Appointed in Arwal

This extensive reshuffle is expected to improve field enforcement, prevent illegal mining, and enhance transparency in the mining sector.
